I would have thought S S News would have told the world before now, if it was last night.

Re Pennant.. this is all I could find mate and I KNOW Twitter isn't the best source of reliable information but I also found a newspaper clip in the Sun ( Scottish) edition..

Here's what I found not word for word but I'll give it my best shot..

    On Twitter
Carlo Nash when asked by A N Other "Is this true" said quote " It looks like it"
    .......................................................................................................

Taken from the Sun... roughly say's..

Stoke player Jermaine Pennant was being questioned last night after crashing his white BMW in Hale Cheshire.
The other driver received injuries but they are not life threatening..
He was being questioned after being arrested ..

I tried to paste the paragraph Waddo but failed.. HOW reliable this info is, I don't know but some other things I did find.

Pennant was given a 90 day prison sentence in 2005 for drink driving and driving without insurance AND whilst serving a current BAN??
I think it was a 16 month ban from memory Waddo, and he was also tagged after being released.

    ...............................................................................

Sorry it's a bit sketchy mate, it's the best I can muster, I have some memory loss after my stroke. But more or less that's the gist of it.

Pennant is due to appear before Trafford magistrates court on 9th May

Charged with Drink driving/no insurance, so does that mean he will be playing on Tuesday night? <doh>

What a TOOL the guy is. Looks like we'll be needing another right winger next season then.

This will be the 3rd time for the same offence I believe, already given a 90 day sentence for the 2nd offence.

    I guess it will Cris

Sad and also very STUPID IMO he deserves to be locked up, and it looks for sure he will be kicked out of SCFC. There we're obviously problems with TP and Pennant before I think, despite the comments on twitter that Pennant said he was very happy here and will fight for his place..

    Now?

The gross stupidity, arrogance, oh call it what you will of Pennant:

    Drunk Driving - again
    No Insurance - again

Driving whilst banned, I have read that this is so, I cannot believe that having no license and driving around in a totally inconspicuous car, I mean to say, just how many chrome plated Aston Martin DBS's (or whatever) are driving around??

This is not Stoke bashing, but if this was so, somebody at the club must have known, or if they didn't know, WHY didn't they know??<doh><doh>

Firstly - its a total disgrace if these alledged facts are true.
Secondly - I'm gutted, because this gives TP or the club the remitt to get rid and for me he is one of our best players!
Thirdly - The mystery virus? Cant play last week, and TP states openly that he would not last 90 minutes in the Arsenal game prior to the match! I didnt go to the match (but listened on the radio) but asked a few friends who did and they said he was again one of our best players and SHOULD NOT have been subbed! So with many ego in top sports, is this Pennant acting in the traditional childsih way because of the way they feel in their own life? Not an excuse just a
    question!
Finaly - Fuller has been done several times for driving without a valid licence and having no or void insurance! KJ has recenttly been done for not providing information on who was driving his car, the driver was caught speeding, probably wouldnt have been insured and KJ has confrimed that the car was not stolen! Are these any worse and they probably will be still be at the club next year!

For me the club has a duty of care to insure that all their players act in a reasonable manner! The cant be held accountable for all actions, but given the amount of players who come from abroad and play in England for the 1st time, would it not make sence to make sure that they understand the laws and are compliant, especially when their fukin ferrari is parked outside?

If the manager had never signed Pennant we woudn't be in this situation.

    Pulis out.

Its nothing to do with Pulis - Welsh! I'm being serious, all clubs and the agents have aduty of care to make sure the players have an understanding and are compliant with the law! If you have a player who is known to have been prosecuted for driving on an international license (Fuller) and then he turns up to training the following day in his R8 - questions should be asked!

In relation to Pennant's behaviour I am in no way justifying it, just trying to understand what would drive an individual to behave in such an unproffessional and imoral way? Is he happy in himself, with his football, with his position within his club and/or with his life in general? I dont know, I'm just asking?

My point about previous offenders still stands, their crimes are no worse yet they have or will go on with their lives as if nothing has happened - Pennant (THE BAD BOY) will be hauled across the coals and be tagged as a "Bad Apple" - why?

Twas my pathetic attempt at humour Smithers, apologies if you thought I was having a go.

As for Pennant, well this is the third time he's been caught drink-driving (which IMO is in a completely different League to driving without insurance/ a valid license) and now there's no excuse. He's also rumoured to have been charged with assault, so in my opinion his "bad apple" tag is deserved.

It's all a great shame seeing as the club brought Pennant in knowing this was probably his last chance to redeem his reputation. Yes, the club should probably have been more thorough, but it's not Pulis/Tony Scholes/Rudge who downs a bottle of JD and then drives off into the sunset.

Potts, thanks for the PM mate, yup all well this end, problem is the knob end Pennant - if it's all true of course<doh>

Smithers, what you are essentially saying then is:

'We are Stoke City and we will get pissed and drive our cars as many times as we like'

So and you (probably) heard it first here.

Pennant will soon be playing in the cage <sorry> but it had to be done

Hola Jose, are we now equal on dodgy jokes

As far as I'm aware, none of our other players have been caught drink driving. No insurance/ licence etc, but not drink driving. This is an awful crime, stupidly dangerous for anyone unlucky enough to be an area where a pisshead is behind the wheel, and is pretty much always way under punished.
