i think this could be a good thing - at least we'll have some certainty. Better than pearce

also he saw holt with the lung-busting run to set up morrison when we beat wba - could favour holt?

I'd be happy with that! Also, hodgson has international management experience, unlike redknapp.

I'll clutch at anything for Holt to be in the England squad! Don't worry about that! <laugh>

Unlike harry, who would give random gags and quotes to the press, I fear woy will get hammered by the press. Too straight-laced

I'd take him over 'Geezer' Redknapp any day, thanks very much.

Plus, I don't think he's as thin-skinned as many seem to think. Good luck to him.

Opening myself up to ridicule here but, what does 'meh' stand for ? I've never known seems to be used quite a lot.

A verbal shrug of the shoulders, used when it's something you couldn't care less about. <ok>

Hodgson is the safe choice, and the cheap choice.

Id prefer redknapp, but I will back Roy if he gets the job. But don't expect the newspapers to. One wrong move and they'll slaughter him.

personally i think its totally the correct appointment.

its the brains over brawn approach. redknapp is and always was the media's choice, simply because they know he will give them soundbites. hodgson is an excellent manager who has international experience with two other countries, managed massive clubs abroad and in england such as inter milan and liverpool, to differing levels of success, and is probably the most tactically astute english manager around today.

safe appointment beefy says - yep, a safe pair of hands! cheap? yes again - good! i don't want the FA paying spurs £8m+ and whatever his contract demand was, which would undoubtedly be massive. we might not play in the same way as spain (not that we would under redknapp - we don't have good enough players to do so), we will be more negative in approach, but we will be a tough cookie to beat and i think we'll have a much better chance of progression through the groups than we would under the riotous redknapp regime which would have been surrounded by over-exuberant media bilge about how 'we'll win the euros'.

i fully expect hodgson to be slaughtered by the press in the same way taylor was, but just because he was not THEIR choice. he was my choice all along <ok>

Didn't know he had once managed Inter! I am aware of his international managment experience though, at Switzerland and Finland, which will stand him in good stead.
