Probably nobody cares, but a fella who played Gaelic football alongside Neil Lennon at minor level for Armagh by the name of Kieran McGeeney won his first silverware as an inter-county manager today. His Kildare side won the National League division 2 title. Lennon speaks very highly of McGeeney and vice versa.

It is noted that they are cut from the same cloth and |I can see it as well. They both think a lot about the game and do things that you wouldn't necessarily expect. Anyone who follows GAA will tell you that pulling Johnny Doyle (one of the top scoring forwards in the country) out of the attack and putting him in midfield was strange, but effective. The same could be said of playing Sammy on the wing. Interesting formations on the field. McGeeney has been very innovative.

McGeeney's sides have been on the wrong end of some absolutely ****ish decisions over the last number of years. Really costly and really **** decisions but he takes it far more stoically than Lennon.

It could be a coincidence, but once that comparison is drawn, it is hard to ignore.

Probably most of you aren't interested, but it is an interesting parallel.

Harry, at least your young daughter will have wonderful memories of today to carry with her and tell her grandchildren ... the memories of the last 'old firm' game (if that is indeed to be the case) which the poor Rangers' fans have to carry with them, are of the thrashing their team got today.

Right, being a critic of Lennon in the pst (and probably future).

That first goal. Lennon said it came off the training park in the post match interview. Commons ran to Thommo afterwards. Apparently it was something they worked on after watching the baddies against the junior monkeys last week.

Credit where it is due. When **** like that works you have to say fair play. That goal gave us the platform to dominate the game. The Huns were in it until then. After that it was game over.

Rebel , what about Lennon's comments after the game , you've got to cheat for it to be a tainted title !! Celtic have played within the rules !! We know what he means , will the rest of our sad country ???

People say he loses the plot. That was the best swipe he has taken yet and nobody noticed because he wasn't "snarling".

There was a spell just after the first goal when I thought the Celts were absolutely spell-binding even though the second goal didn't result from that period. I think what impressed me the most overall was the closing down play to win the ball back - everyone seemed to take a leaf out of Scott Brown's book in that respect.

Yeah. The commentators said the only player with no defensive duties was Commons.
The third goal kinda knocked that assertion on the head.
    They all worked hard.

The shifting in and out of Wanyama from middle to right to Centre looked ok today but it won't always. I am happy that he has the mental capacity to know where to go and what to do as well as the physical attributes. He can be a player, but better sides can exploit that sort of inside left channel betwixt and between where Matthews and Victor might be.

That is being critical of a problem that hasn't even arisen yet, just an area of caution.

McCabe got loads of plaudits for his performance against us at Ibrox. Victor and Matthews are the same age and should be getting the same, if not more praise for doing that consistently all year.

Yeah, Neil Lennon may have got his tactics wrong in the last game at Ibrox but certainly got them spot on today. As you infer, each game will have its own problems to overcome and of course, that's Neil's challenge to get his tactics spot on or adjust them to put things right quickly. The team is bulging with prospective talent and I think Victor Wanyama has been an unbelievable find - great upper body strength, is a player and still young so still learning - could end up being even more immense for us.

Funny, it didn't occur to me that they're all barely 20. <laugh>

To be fair, there has been a lot of praise for Wanyama and Matthews over the course of the season. McCabe was singled out for praise last time around precisely because he hasn't been in the Rangers team all season. It also helps that he's scottish of course, the press do love a "rising scottish star" story

Incidentally, I think Victor, of all the youngsters in the team, has the best chance of being a really 'big' player at the top level.
