For any-one not traveling up to the City Ground on Saturday for Pompey's Championship swansong, how about getting along to Westleigh park to cheer on Havant & Waterlooville. The Hawks have been in Conference South for the division's entire existence, but need to win to ensure they don't drop into the Southern League Premier Division. The bottom of the Conference South, with 1 game to go, is thus: 18....Bromley........... -14.....44 19....Hav & W'ville.... -12.....41 -------------------------------- 20....Maidenhead..... -26.....40 21....Hamptn & Rich.. -18.....39 22R..Thurrock.......... -49.....26 Havant & Waterlooville are at home to Staines Town (15th with 46 points) Maidenhead are at home to Eastleigh (12, 54 points) Hampton & Richmond are away to relegated Thurrock Kick-off is at 3pm GOOD LUCK TO THE HAWKS
As much as I dislike Ian Baird, I do hope his team Eastleigh help out The Hawks by beating Maidenhead. Shame if Havant & Waterlooville get relegated...........
Did anyone go? H&R were safe in the 89th minute, then Maidenhead in the 90th, then Havant & Waterloo in the 91st! Talk about drama.
Copied from the Blue Square South website http://www.bluesqsouth.com/story/0,20970,13042_7712913,00.html ====== Havant & Waterlooville secured their safety on the final day of the campaign with a 3-2 triumph over 10-man Staines Town at West Leigh Park. Staines broke the deadlock on 19 minutes through Ali Chaaban before Scott Jones found the back of the net in the 22nd minute to restore parity. The Massive reclaimed the lead just one minute later thanks to Kyle Vassell, but they were pegged back again three minutes before the half-time break when Oliver Palmer found the back of the net. The match looked to be heading for a 2-2 stalemate but with the threat of relegation looming, Joe Dolan popped up in the 90th minute to net the all-important winning goal. Maidenhead United saw their relegation from the Blue Square Bet South confirmed despite recording a 4-3 win against Eastleigh at York Road. The Magpies started brightly and raced into a two-goal lead thanks to goals from Alex Wall (16) and Reece Tilson-Lascaris (20). However, the Spitfires rallied magnificently and claimed the lead thanks to goals from Lee Peacock (41), Sam Wilson (61) and Mitchell Nelson (65). Johnson Hippolyte's men didn't give up fighting, though, as Tilson-Lascaris bagged his second of the afternoon on 67 minutes before Paul Semakula popped up at the death to net the winning goal.
Thank gawd for that devo - if; heaven forbid; PFC do get liquidated then at least we would be in the same division as them next season, so we would at least have a "local derby" to look forward to
