After todays performance, which of the current squad would you keep for our assault on the championship next year.I,ve been thinking about it since the whistle blew and I dont have to many names at present.
Today is the first time I've walked out of a match before the final whistle. Torres's hat-trick just about did it for me. I'm still feeling very numb and angry at the moment. I can't think about anyone who played for us today without getting the hump.
Next season, regardless of our status I think we should get rid of EVERYBODY except for: Barton, Zamora, Cisse, Mackie, Ferdinand, Onuoha, Traore. Build the team around them, do all we can to get Diakite a permanent transfer and sack off everyone else who aren't good enough and are too old. The bunch above are experienced players, get in exciting youth to be the basis of our team if we come back up.
Radical. I'd keep Taarabt and Faurlin as well and Taiwo if we can keep him. Mackie has done very well since coming back, but I wouldn't build a team around him.....keepers, one or two new CBs and midfield back up the priority and would love to see some younger players too.
I completely forgot about Faurlin, i'd keep him and I was being realistic in the fact Taarabt will more than certainly go. I wouldn't build the team around Mackie, probably should have specified I'd keep him as a squad player. Taiwo I didn't write because I was under the impression he goes back to Milan if we go down. But we want to sign younger players who will be able to hack it in the premier division after a years experience in the Championship. Players such as Jay Rodriguez at Burnley and Jordan Rhodes are the types. There are several young centre back flying around that we could poach up and they'd flourish under experience from players such as Anton Ferdinand
I would shoot that donkey Ferdinand and keep Hill he has far more to offer the team and to the youger players plus he can verbally express himself unlike dopey Anton!
In the hypothetical, far from guaranteed event that we are in the second tier: I'd assume the loanees will be off as much as it would be great if they could stay. GKs: Kenny is a fine keeper at that level. Murphy and Cerny are adequate deputies assuming they all want to stay. Defence: Realistically, Onuoha will command a reasonable fee and be in demand as possibly will Traore. I'd like to think they'd give it a year but no reason why they would. Hill and Ferdinand are more often than not decent together and I see no reason to get rid of either. Young would make an excellent Championship right-back. Connolly will hopefully be back too and I'd keep him. Hall, ****tu and anyone else I've forgotten will surely be moved on and probably Gabbidon too as I think his contract was only for a year. Dyer too, assuming he's alive. There are some decent kids coming through- Ehmer who has been out on loan looks a prospect and Harriman will be worth a spot as second choice to Young. Midfield: I've no doubt Taarabt will want to go but whether someone wants him is another matter. Mackie will likely get some interest from the likes of Norwich and Bolton but I think he'd fancy giving it a year. Faurlin is an obvious yes and, assuming no-one will want Barton, I see no reason why he can't be a success in the Championship. I think Derry should be moved on as should SWP if someone is mug enough to take him. If Balanta still exists I think he'd be a better option. Buz can still do a job in the Championship but if his contract is up I'd happily move him on and get someone younger in. Forwards: Keep Zamora and Cisse assuming we can but I wouldn't stand in the way if a reasonable offer came in for either. If one or both goes then Helguson will do a job as will Campbell with a decent pre-season. Bothroyd can fk right off as can Vine and Agyemang and take a punt on someone from the lower leagues with a bit of hunger.
Madness. This is QPR. Don't you know we've been down since the Leeds game and any shred of optimism should be extinguished?
What a wierd list. I don't think any of them would appear on my must keep for Championship other than Mackie and perhaps Traore. You need to rebuild a realistic squad for the 2nd tier and not focus on underperformers from the PL. Tommy Smith may be a candidate for a renewed career at the Bush if we go down. Faurlin would normally be looking to stay in the top level at the stage he is at in his career but we may get lucky and hold on to him because of the injury. I would give my right arem to keep Taiwo and Diakite but it ain't going to happen.
Non of the promoted teams could afford the wages so we cant off load the dross to Reading or Saints. For me yesterday was an 'eye opener'. I called our players 'strangers' then MOTD2 ran with it as well. The Chelsea fans i spoke to thought that most of our players looked like Championship at best? For a Premiership London derby that is simple not good enough. We all know the reasons why it went wrong and i think if we go down we need to start from scratch and get things right on and off the pitch. TF keeps doing things off the pitch, now he needs to sit down with MH and get it right on it.
Too many mercenaries who don't care about QPR. Say what you like about Terry but he plays with more pride than your version of Terry, Joey B
