Totally disagree. He was part of a defence that conceded 1 goal in 6 games and has helped us keep a load of clean sheets.

He's not good enough long term, as pressure gets to him after a while and he'll make an error, but he can play for a few games as cover.

Look where we are in the table.

Look how long Willo has been playing.

    No coincidence.

Maybe so, I'd still replace him though.

If we were to replace Willo we'd need to sign 2 CB;s then.

We need to sign another CB purely because we need another quality addition in that area. If we were to get rid of Willo we'd need an additional CB signed.

We can't just sign another CB and get rid of Willo, that wont solve our squad depth issue.

Signed Fuchs on FM, he's good but not amazing. I've watched a bit of him (Euro games, the odd game vs H96, who a mate supports, etc.) and agree with this. I'd certainly take him, but I'm sure Carr can find better.

Neither. But realistically I think Simpson will ask to leave. I want Santon in his natural role. We've only seen him right a couple of times but he looks a much better player there. I watched him plenty for Inter and he was great when he got the chance there (rare as he was filling in the left side as Chivu had well documented problems at the time). In an ideal world the new left back will come in and be covered by Raylor, Ferguson and any incoming youngster (a Man U lad mentioned). Simpson and Santon would then battle it out on the right and give Pardew some nice options. The class and attacking ability of Santon, coupled with the dogged, block everything attitude of the more defensive Simpson. Perfect balance supported by the able Tavenier.
