Next year we should have Wilshere back, M'Villa signed Vertonghen signed, Podolski signed, why not try something different,.

    ............Szczesny............

    Vertonghen...Kos....Vermaelen

    Oxo..Wilshere..M'Villa..Song..Arteta

    ........RVP.....Podolski.......

    Bench

    Walcott
    Sagna
    Mert
    Gibbs
    Ramsey
    Santos
    Coquelin
    Rosicky
    Diaby

IMHO this squad (team and bench) would give us all confidence, obviously many will disagree, but please give your reasons.

Song and M'Villa protecting the back three, and joining the rest of the midfield when we are attacking.

    ............Szczesny............

    Vertonghen...Kos....Vermaelen

    .......M'Villa..Song

    Oxo..Wilshere....Arteta

    ........RVP.....Podolski.......

    Perhaps this makes it clearer

and if u notice, teams that are successful with that formation (Wigan and i think Inter Milan) use wing backs, meaning it would be Sagna and Gibbs/Santos on the wings

hmm - it might be an idea against certain teams - but I hesitate for many others...

So, no Sagna-Walcott on the right and no Rosicky? Excellent. Why not putting RVP on the bench as well then ?

To play with 3 defenders basically means - we do not care about their wingers, let them run and cross, and we will deal with it in our box. For Arsenal it is a nightmare scenario. Basically it is a suicide. On top of that we struggle with long ball teams. And this formation is a dream for any long ball team. We overpopulate the midfield, and all they need is just a lot of long ball into our area. Double suicide.

If you have a back three. You HAVE to have wingers!! otherwise the likes of United will rape you down the flanks.

    ------------------Szczesny------------------

    --Koscieleny---Vertonghen----Vermaelen--

    ----------Arteta--------Song/M'Villa-----------
    Walcott---------Wilshere--------Chamberlain

    ----------VanPersie-----Podolski--------------

Personally though I think its insaine to leave Sagna out of the team.

If we are to drop a defender it shouldnt be Sagna. I dont think Koscielney has done enough to keep his place for next Season.

44 goals conceded this term and 44 goals last term. That's more than Fulham and Everton in the same timeframe.

    --------------------Scezney--------------------
    Sagna-----Vertonghen-----Vermaelen---Gibbs
    ------Wilshere------MVilla-------Rosicky-------
    Walcott---------VanPersie------------Podolski-

This gives us great squad rotation.
In fact our second choice midfield would still be TOP Class:

    ---------Song------Arteta---------
    -----------Chamberlain-----------

This gives us good squad rotation.Which we need to do more often(particularly after tough Champions League matches and around xmas)

I think a few people would disagree with you there, Koscielny's been fantastic for us this season. I also think it's unlikely Wilshere will feature much next season, and if he does it'll mainly be from the bench or for 60 or so minutes. But I think that'd be good to have Arteta/Song there. Signing M'Vila and Podolski would really give us a lot of depth next season.

    ----------------------------Szczesny----------------------------------------
    Ronaldo-Ibrahimovic-Messi-RVP-Cavani-Falcao-Benzema-Higuian-Gomez-Podolski

    That should do it.

Falcao is worryingly similar to Falco, we'd have to find another replacement.

i don't think it would work. a 3-4-3 or a 3-4-1-2 doesn't work as a formation, because if the opposition goes 442, they have a winger on each side to occupy the wide defenders, and then 2 strikers vs the one left in the middle. this type only works with 5 at the back (2 wing backs who know how to defend). 5-3-2 or 5-4-1:
using our current crop plus Podolski, M'vila and Vertonghen (because everyone else has them in their teams).

    5-3-2:
    ---------------------Szczesny----------------------
    --------Koscielny----Vertonghen----Vermaelen-------
    -Sagna----------------------------------------Gibbs-
    ----------------M'Vila-----------Wilshere-------------
    -----------------------Rosicky-----------------------
    ---------------v.Persie---------Podolski--------------

    5-4-1:
    ---------------------Szczesny----------------------
    --------Koscielny----Vertonghen----Vermaelen-------
    -Sagna----------------------------------------Gibbs-
    -----------------------M'Vila------------------------
    ---------------Rosicky--------Arteta----------------
    ----------------------Wilshere----------------------
    -----------------------v.Persie----------------------

I personally don't like it as it means that Gervinho, Walcott, Chamberlain and Miyaichi will have no real place.

If you'll notice, most of our play involves over-lapping full backs. Gibbs and Sagna are crucial for us keeping possession. If you put Gibbs on the left then you're basically asking him to cover the left back position anyway. Dropping Arteta is madness considering our win record with him in the team. His pivot role is crucial to our game. Dropping Walcott is also madness considering the goals and assists he has contributed this season. Oxo is not ready to replace him, no matter how much you hype him up. I think it's the sign of a very young fan to propose Oxo being in the first team next season.

    I would go with:

    -----------Szczesny-------------
    Sagna Vertonghen Vermaelen Gibbs
    -------M'Vila-----Arteta----------
    Walcott-----Wilshere-----Podolski
    --------------RVP---------------

With the players we have I don't think 3 at the back is much of an option as it entails benching some of our important players. Wilshere Is a doubt for the start of next season too we really need an attacking midfielder to complement ramsey.

Rosicky has been great no.doubt about that but with his injury record i.would.prefer an am preferably someone versatile.
