Strong reports that we've lodged a £16.3m bid for the Uruguayan's services. Certainly, the club have confirmed a bid from an EPL club of that amount, and Liverpool is the only name being mentioned. - He's 21. - Plays anywhere along the front line, behind the striker. - Compared in his playing style to a 'young Kaka'. - 30 games, 6 goals, 4 assists this season for Bologna, who sit at 9th in the Serie A. - Was touted as the replacement for Sanchez at Udinese last summer. They decided on a cheaper alternative. - Appears to be skilful, direct, elegant in his style of play. - Scored against Milan this season (turns up in big games then?). - Would seemingly fit our style of play. - Most agree he is a rising star. Some videos for those who are interested. I'd say sign him up.
Aquilani has similar stats this season. It's the italian league and TBH I'm not overly thrilled with any links to italian league players as it's so different to the pressure of the PL
Not sure on this...I believe the story is from a few months ago but rehashed. Nontheless, we ARE interested in him, and I think he'd be a great signing if we can get him. I hope we go for him but I see him as another signing against Carroll's future. He's never going to fit in with players of this type whereas Gerrard/Suarez/Ramirez would link up fantastically.
Fair point about Carroll. Maybe the hope is that these players can feed off Carroll, and basically use him a target to hit when they're in trouble or need to go route 1? Compared to Aqua: RAMIREZ --------- AQUA 30 games ---------- 21 games 6 goals -------------- 1 goal 4 assists ----------- 6 assists Remember Aqua is at Milan, who are second and vastly superior to Bologna.
We have no wingers who can put in quality crosses. Gerrard is the best crosser, but he's central and crosses from more central positions are easy to deal with. Sure, we can punt long balls to him to ease pressure and have players feed off him, but that's only half his game. We need to be buying top wingers to get the most out of him - Ramirez isn't a top winger, he's a central midfielder
I think we should base out team around Suarez rather than Carroll if I'm honest. Suarez is starting to hit form now and has re-found his shooting boots (8 in 8 is it?). If you find players to suit Suarez's ability rather than Carrolls we'll get a much more potent attack force next season.
There's no point building a team around Carroll, lets be honest. He doesn't create or score enough to justify the team being built around him. Now I don't know anything about Ramirez, but he seems like more of a wide attacking midfielder than a Downing-esque winger, and I think that suits Suarez down to the ground. Crossing to Suarez would be useless because his heading is woeful and he's not very tall. He wants players he can slip balls in too between the centre back and full back and players who can do that to him. Has anyone watched Ramirez at length to confirm this or not?
Pretty much right on man, just add to that he GETS IN THE BOX, if he came to us and didn't, then someone is telling him not to. He is a true AM and would link well with Suarez. Lucas Aqua and G. Ramirez would be a pretty good CM trio and Gerrard, shelvey, adam, spearing, that would feel pretty good, not good enough but then again, Gerrard could be put in there and adam could get the finger out. Throw in a possible sissoko and our CM could be pretty set.
