I didn't choose United. They were chosen for me. Same way you chose United for your kids. As for your definition of local, that could actually support my argument. In terms of local governance, Astley is a part of the borough (not the town) of Wigan. But my postal address is -------- Road, Astley, Tyldesley, Manchester M29 7--. OT's postal address is MUFC, Sir Matt Busby Way, Old Trafford, Manchester M16 0RA. So the same city as me, and my local team, in terms of distance and location
So you didnt 'choose' UTD it was 'chosen' for you? therefore if you had been born in surrey you would have still been a UTD fan? making the 'locality' argument void As for the definition of local, my point was thta it is confusing and you have confirmed that. I lived in Horwich for a while and the reebok stadium is literally down the road, but Horwich is classed as greater Manchester, but has a BL postcode. So how do we now measure locality for the people of horwich? do they support Bolton or a manchester club? I also dont get how a manchester loving lad can love UTD but hate City?
Traditionally, City fans come from different areas of Manchester than United fans. For example, Salford, Trafford, south Bury etc are predominantly United. Whereas east Manchester (eg Droylsden, Stockport, Ashton etc) is more traditionally blue. These areas also tend to be a bit rougher and I've never liked them when I've been.
so it IS confusing and locality isnt necessarily as important as initially indicated? greater manchester area encompasses your rochdales, bury, salford, bolton, stockport etc so really have a right to support either club (city/UTD) and roughness etc is irrelevant You dont gte much rougher than say moss side or longsight and LOCAL lad danny welbeck was born there. The fact that his parents are ghanian but he has love for UTD also shows that locality and background are irrelevant PS you forgot to answer when I asked for your birthplace
Sorry. I was born in Fairfield Hospital, Bury. We lived in Rochdale till I was 3. Reason being, my dad was a cop in Salford (the Crescent where the uni is). Not sure if it's still the same now, but in those days, cops weren't allowed to police the area they lived in. So my dad was offered a choice of non-Salford areas to live in (they got a house through the police in those days too), and he picked Rochdale. It was alright in those days, it's one of the most deprived areas in England now. Then we moved to Bolton for 3 years (another police house), until we finally moved back to Salford. Walkden to be precise, where Alan Ball, boxer Jamie Moore, Sarah Whatmore from Pop Idol and Tyrone off Coronation Street have all lived.
so IT IS complicated? you should be a bury fan Ironically I think I have more in common with UTD and its players and staff than you
How? You don't share the same nationality, birthplace, place of residence either past or present or religion with any of them.
When did I say birthplace was important? If a kid is born in an army base in Germany, should they support the local German side even if they move home to England when they're still a toddler? were you not arguing about locality? How? You don't share the same nationality, birthplace, place of residence either past or present or religion with any of them. most of them are foreigners and I HAVE lived in manchester and worked
How many are from Kashmir? How many are from England? How many are from Manchester? How many from Stoke? How many are Asian? How many European? How many speak English as a first language? How many speak Punjabi or Urdu as a first language?
so now its place specific? again how many were born in the same ward as you? etc etc etc The bottom line is the club manager, the club captain (s) and most of the players have more in common with me than you Basically they are from other countries and have settled here for economic reasons PS I would argue that English is my first language. Not in terms of what i learnt first but in terms of what i communicate in mostly but either way most of the club players speak a foreign language, even SAF i would argue They are here for economic reasons in the main Those that are english arent from manchester necessarily Re the growing up in salford, didnt you say UTD were chosen for you? Is your family from salford?
Fergie is British. So am I. You are not. Firstly I AM British Fergie is scottish therefore foreigner in england SAME as me Vidic is European. So am I. You are not. vidic is foreign as I am and his first language was not english same as me But more are from Manchester than Kashmir (eg Giggs, Welbeck and Scholes) Giggs is Welsh born in cardiff, moved to england at the age of 6 SAME as me Welbeck is ghanian by ancestory full name daniel nii tackie mensah welbeck, so a son of immigrants SAME as me Re the growing up in salford, didnt you say UTD were chosen for you? Is your family from salford? Yes. My mum and dad both grew up in Little Hulton, Salford. is your ancestory Irish?
you can fook right off ya old git I have been away thats why its dead anyway, why am I banned off the spuds board? i would PM you but never learnt how to
Just a random thought but how poor is our education system when someone who cannot work out how to PM someone can get a job teaching IT in a High School? Disclaimer: All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
