Well im spending today reading the papers, I've watched the BBC live game recorded for yesterday, the football league Show and a number of other football shows now to read the papers. Where to start? The Sun, Mirror, People,Independent, the Football league paper or 1 of the others? hmm confussion
Ignore the Observer But the turnaround has been swift. Swiss businessman Markus Liebherr – who died in 2010 – led a takeover that brought the club out of administration. Since then, under the chairmanship of the outspoken Italian banker Nicola Cortese and, just as crucially, the management of Nigel Adkins, Southampton have achieved back-to-back promotions. A- He's NOT outspoken . B - He's Swiss !
He is both Italian and outspoken. I try to avoid the bullshit like The Sun and The Mirror, but I suppose it doesn't really matter for sport.
Saw from the TV coverage that Peter Scudamore was at the game yesterday. I'm sure our outspoken Italian would have offered some suggestions on how to run the league.
Here's some pictures for anyone in exile, or generally doesn't have some of the papers! please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
So much mis-reporting and bias about the Saints in the press that I don't bother to waste my money on buying the papers. I just go to their internet editions and read the reports for free...except for The Times/ Sunday Times which require you to suscribe, which I dont!!
I agree but I have had a bugger of a time putting the internet under the bed to keep them to show my grand kids when they cant believe that Saints who have just won their 3rd Champions League, were once not even in the top division
Have to agree with everyone else here Jasper. Cortese may be quiet now, but he has been outspoken - not without good reason, mind you. And he's Italian. He just worked for a Swiss bank before he came to Saints. I hardly ever buy newspapers, but if I'm ever tempted, it's the Guardian or Observer for me. Good straight, intelligent reporting and not a Murdoch in sight.
Cortese prefers not to answer every piece of gossip, but likes occasional and orchestrated chances to let fans know what he's doing and why. Not a criticism...it's just his style. He isn't however an insider and the insiders in the FA and FL don't always appreciate advice from the new kid on the block. Little do they know his plans for world domination
I have already admitted I was Mistaken ref his Nationality , so thanks for that ....... I Don't agree about him being outspoken .
Ah OK. That'll teach me for just reading the top few posts. Not outspoken though..? Telling the FA they don't know how to finance their association, after being asked to look at their books..? Getting peeved with Wembley stadium for not letting us help with the costs of stewarding the JPT Final, so that more Saints fans could be allowed tickets..? Publicly suggesting that Saints were too far behind their rivals in the first season of League One..? Getting annoyed by the national press for not adhering to his rules of licensing photographs in the stadium..? He hasn't been quiet, but he has had good reason for being loud. He's a much quieter chappie now, but I love him either way.
That's NOT out spoken , that's Speaking . Not speaking any more on this subject , just going to carry on enjoying .
