To all the people who think thats the case...

MARTIN O’NEILL has revealed he is taking a hands-on approach to scouting to make sure any summer signings meet his exacting standards.

The Sunderland boss revealed he recently travelled overseas to watch a potential transfer target.

He said: “I went abroad to see a Sunday game two weeks ago and I would like to do that kind of thing more often.

“It gives me a chance to make my own assessment of a player.

“Of course, I have reports on a player but there is always the chance that, when you see a player yourself, you do not see what is in the report.

“Any player who comes into the club is going to have my name attached to them, so I would like to make my own assessment.”

rumour has it the team the player he went to watch plays for Montpellier

Would cream in my pants if it is Giroud

    Didier Ya Konan?

Plays for Hannover the same club that tha fella Abdellaoue (his strike partner) plays for

both would certainly boost our side but I heard it was Montpellier

If MON was in Hannover, he was watching Abdellouae.

I heard we had a deal in place, but i've since heard he's gone to Sevilla!

Wherever it was I'm glad he's looking abroad as there is some real talent out there.

I'm not sure how he'd be in the Prem, but when I went to watch Real Sociedad v Levante, a plater that really stood out was Kone (I think his name was), Levante's striker.

    Arouna Kone?

was at PSV for a few years and looked a really good player, moved to Sevilla and found it difficult over the last few years, I noticed he is playing for Levante now and is doing well, only 28.

Think he still belongs to Sevilla, big strong lad, i'd be concerned that since he left Holland he's struggled for goals, he's had a stunning season, bit Levante have in general.

I just couldn't see it being a good move, but you never know.

As I said, I've only ever seen him against Real Sociedad, who were God-awful TBH!

Yeah, good little ground the Anoeta, the bowl and the deep ceilings keep the noise in.

All the Basque sides have passionate, loud fans, it seems. Except Osasuna, boring bastrads, haha.
