I also felt that James McLean has been off colour recently, and he was also wasting chances in this crucial match. There is no doubt that Martin OâNeillâs comments after the game were right on the money, and we should have won the game. I feel sorry for Villa, and sympathise with the situation they are in. They have had to sell some very good players such as Ashley Young and Stuart Downing. The injury to key players Darren Bent was devastating for them, and I do not blame them for signing our top striker. I still blame him for walking, though. The Petrov situation is obviously also hanging over them. All football events this week have been overshadowed by the quite amazing Barcelona vs. Chelsea game on Tuesday. It was truly incredible and showed how British grit, no little talent and decent tactics won over the neutrals, and more importantly won the game for Chelsea. It was in the news today! Apparently most people in this country cannot recount basic historical dates. It is a sad state of affairs. Considering some of our finest moments are about to be lost through the annals of time, it is quite concerning.
History is one of most peoples likes, check out how many folk backtrack their history on several sites,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,wierd not understanding/ knowing history.
History has no place in modern place society. We oviously wish to hide the cruelty of the British in subduing nice people so they could form there hated Empire which benefited no one. And the Americans won both world wars when we could not cope, but their global companies such Ford and General Motors made war materiel for both sides. Why bring up that the nice French capitulated and the rich Germans almost annihilated a decent race of people as well as giving communism a whole new empire. Rant over.
I heard a story recently about a class load of teenagers being asked which historical event happened in 1066 and one of them said " didn't England win the World Cup round about then? ". I still blame the teachers.
I'm still astounded by the spelling that some posters on here use immegration During my school days any wrong spellings found by my mother resulted in my having to re-write the whole piece again, rule of thumb use a dictionary, never mind the spell check on the computer, it normally comes up with the American spelling anyway, and what do they know.
