I'm surprised he's left Barca. Thought he'd just take a year off and then resume the job.

Can't see him being as successful anywhere else. Barca wasn't just about him, it was about various things coming together at the same time. Reminds me of Ramos and Sevilla, though obviously better.

I think he'll end up at Chelsea this summer.

I think he will take a year out, like he said he will do.

Then one of the big jobs

Also I don't think Guardiola, Mourinho or any other foreign coach will be United's next manager.

I've long believed that Fergie has hand picked David Moyes as his successor, and that this is part of the reason why Moyes has stayed at Everton for so long. Even though Moyes has no connection with United, he's basically a chip off the old block. I'm sure that Fergie would much rather create a dynasty than usher in a sweeping cultural change a la Clough at Leeds. My guess is that it will be Moyes next, with someone like Darren Ferguson or Solksjaer pencilled in after that.

A year ago when Barcelona won both UCL and La Liga he was saying that there was a good chance he's quit after one more season. And he wouldn't know in December what would happen in April would he. Do you really consider it an impossibility that stepping down is something he has been planning to do for a good while and it just happened to coincide with them not winning CL or league? They've still had a good season mind

And I don't think there's any chance he's going to Chelsea this summer. I imagine he was pretty serious about taking some time off. Anyone's guess where he'll end up in time but it will be interesting to see how he does with a lesser team

To me, he seems the type who wants to strike the right balance between football and life.

If he wants to live life and get his head together for a year, then I reckon he'll stick to his plans. He'll come back hungrier, although I can't imagine that he'll replicate the same level of success at another club.

Agree. For some people a football manager who has other things in his life than football seems to be an incomprehensible idea but Pep is one. And the amount of success Barca have had is pretty much unheard of in the history of football, no one can realistically expect or demand anything close to that.

As for chickening out of a challenge as UIR keeps saying, I think walking out of the best playing squad that world football has seen in a long time with the intention of eventually managing somewhere else is accepting a challenge and attempting to prove himself. UIR will likely disagree though

    I agree with UIR.

I could have succeeded with the team he inherited and ive not been impressed with most of his transfers, especially Fabregas and Mascherano.

Also think Barcelona's defence is pretty poor, at actually defending. The team have no plan B and they are the most despicable cheats in world football.

All in all I don't see why the world of football is creaming over Guardiola. I think he has a lot left to learn and United isn't the place for him to be doing it.

"I could have succeeded with the team he inherited"

The team he inherited had just had a terrible season in which they finished 18 points behind Real.

"All in all I don't see why the world of football is creaming over Guardiola."

Because he has been the manager of arguably the greatest club side in the history of football? No one is saying Guardiola is the only reason why they have been so succesful but he has done his part, as good a team they have they don't manage themselves.

You could have succeeded with that team, really? are you joking? You think managing a football team is that simple? Does that mean Fergie's achievements are less because he had a large group of young players come through together that were quality? Nope, it don't even though you try to use that logic to lessen Guardiola's achiements because essentially they are above United in stature. Why not just enjoy these teams that come along now and again and stop being such bitter cnuts

It is no coicidence arsenal united and chelsea fans are far more critical of Barca than any other fans..<doh>

How about training, man mangement, tactics, press conferences, public relations, contracts etc. You cannot just walk into the job as a ****ing no mark and anyone who thinks they can should get their coaching badges and do it

Fabregas is a bit part player, shocking amount of money spent on someone so inferior to what they currently have. Mascherano is a poor player. All he can do is kick people when the ref isn't looking. Yet Guardiola thinks he can play CB! Masc can barely play CM.

Im not bitter about Barelona. They are a fantastic team but, and its a bit but, their defence is not that good, they are the biggest cheats in football (don't get me started on Busquets) and any half capable manager probably would have succeeded with Inesta, Xavi and Messi.

Also Barcelona have no plan B. They play one way and if that doesn't work they loose.

Guardiola has had it easy so far and at the first sign of trouble he wants to take a sabbatical.

You are genuinely thick as **** arent you. Awful season? They reached the CL semis going out to the CL winners by a single piece of magic. This same side had also been crowned champions the season before beating Arsenal in the final.

They had a poor season for Barcelona but things were coming together nicely. People were starting to cream over Messi and the Barcelona hype was already well underway.

Pep walked into the perfect situation a situation that Mourinho, Fergie, Wenger, Ancelotti and other world class managers would of done with their hands tied behind the back. Never before has a manager had such a perfect group of players at his disposal. This and the fact real were ****ing **** for the next few years until Mourinho got them back on track meant easy street for Pep.
