what a cracking "goal" he scored though, on the replay (was watching on Sky) it looked OK.. doesn't change anything really..
Garcia has been our 4th choice winger this season, only getting in the team once the season was effectively over (a nod to passing experiance on to other players being more important than our results at that stage?). If he stayed here he'd be at best 3rd choice next season and would be offered a short contract on wages that suit that role. If he goes elsewhere (ie back home) he'll get more money on a longer contract as a first team player. I think it's a shame he's going to go, but until we see who the club has lined up it's a bit early to be saying it's ridiculous.
I think his time has come .Great header in todays game but he should never have strayed offside when he was out wide looking straight along the line of defenders. Apart from that disallowed goal I felt he was conspicuously absent for the majority of the game and certainly more often than not,out of position and poor in his distribution.I was surprised Nick didn't sub him early in the second half.
it must be a financial reason why Garcia is going. He has played the last 5 or 6 games and played well.
Why 3rd best? When all loanees go, we only have Stewart as a recognised winger. What's the issue with offering reduced terms? A new player, regardless of cost is an unknown quantity. At least with Garcia we know he never lets the side down and can perform in a number of positions more than adequately at Championship level. We've already done this to death, the fact that the majority of fans wish he was offered another year, tells you all you need to know.
I was unsure at the time but after watching it again when i got back home Garcia was By The Letter of the Law OFFSIDE. The rule should be changed so that as along as part of you is in line with the last defender then you are OnSide. Give the benefit to the attackers,, imo. It was a top quality non-goal though. Quality cross and a perfect header by Garcia but something he is well capable of. Oh well it changed nothing really in the end that matters. HULL CITY STAY AND FINISH 8TH on 68pts.
We're already trying to get King again next year, and we're pretty certain to be signing at least one winger whether he comes back or not. Taking names out of it, I don't expect us to be signing a player that isn't as good as our existing 4th choice winger. I've no problem with offering reduced terms, but if he's got a contract for two years to play every week for someone else on more than we're prepared to offer him to sit on the bench for a year it wouldn't make much sense for him to sign for us again.
