Couldn't agree more, Relayer. It's especially true when Assou-Ekotto was clearly struggling on the pitch and his performances had dipped below his usual high standard, while we have a capable stand in rotting on the bench.
I have to say that i've always had my doubts about him, especially defensively. If he was being forced to play, despite being injured, then that's pretty stupid. Lately, to be honest, he's been looking like more of a liability, than an asset.
Must have been a difficult last few years for you then, NSS - with Benny having been one of our best and most consistent performers!! 'liability'? More so than any/most/all of the rest during the last few weeks? Personally think that Benny is hardly alone in not having been on top form lately.
I have to say that i still hold my breath every time he gets isolated defensively. Plus his positioning sense is not the greatest, either. He has improved greatly from a couple of years ago. However, lately he seems to have gone back to his worst habits, for whatever reason.
Spot on PNP The link up between Bale & BAE was a key factor in the highlights of the last 2 years: the proverbial 'symbiotic relationship'. Overuse and odd tactics have certainly taken their toll on that relationship.
