This was posted Thursday, so it wasn't such a bad forecast by SL?

Was my home track once, so know it really does drain well.

Anyone one know why The Pier has been smashed in the first at Sandown. Are we talking Segal/Taylor or is this shaping up to be a Pipe job?

A lot of Henry Cecil horses look to have needed a run early on this season and I think Twice Over will be no different. I fully expect him to do the business today in the 3.45 at Sandown. 5/2 I think is pretty decent though I anticipate he may be bigger at some point over the course of the day.

Morning all. Very rough today, Friday night out with all the young ones from work has potentially ruined my Saturday. At least ive got the Liverpool match to cheer me up later..... Or not.

Anyway, just the two for me today.

1.30 Sandown - Saddlers risk 13/2. This one is better than its last two runs, think Sandown will suit it more and will run a big race for in firm stable.

2.20 Ripon - Memory Cloth 5/1. The King is at Ripon for just the one ride and it's for the master fiddler Brian Ellison. Got a tip a couple of weeks back for one of his and King Kieran was on board. Won nicely. Haven't heard anything yet but will advise if I do.

Nass: Very interesting this penetrometer business. Understand in Australia a pneumatic drill is used occasionally, just to get some kind of reading <whistle>. Rarely necessary in Europe, I would say?

Amazingly the first 7 stories on the Sporting Life website are all horse racing related, before slumping into the usual football garbage - "O'Neill: I'll remember Mancini comments" <yawn>

    Today...

    3:30 Ripon - Gulf Of Naples -
Class horse great run lto and will defy penalty here

    4:15 Sandown - Thought Worthy -
This John Gosden horse is thought worthy of a place in this field after some impressive work at home, will love the mud and in with a chance.

    4:50 Sandown - Farrh -
Taking a chance he acts on the ground but overcame a long layoff to win a competitive newmarket handicap last year and its interesting he's been campaigned this early for what looks like a decent campaign.

    6:55 Haydock - Striker Torres -
Not just going for the run ;)

    7:40 Doncaster - Suraj -
Gets the trip he needs today and was staying on nicely last time out in a hot race.

Very much looking forward to the Hurdle race at Punchestown to see how Shawdow Catcher runs as I was confident in the triumph but didnt run anykind of race.

    Good Luck <cheers>

    15.45 Sandown- POET- 3/1

These conditions should bring out the best in Poet and although he may lack the class of some of these, this could be his chance to shine. And dont forget he pushed Workforce over C&D last may, and loves these conditions

    Afternoon All

Fantastic weather out there again today !!

    Couple for me today :

2.00 Sandown Cedre Bleu - think this one is on a decent mark
3.10 Sandown Vic Venturi - total wildcard this one, just think it will like the conditions and at 33/1 (5 places) then I will take a chance and invest some of my golf winnings thanks to Ben Curtis last week

    Cheers Trevez

    5.40 Punchestown.
Up For The Match (Nap). A highly progressive sort who's won his last two races. Managed to get 8/1 this morning and cash has poured on him since- now as low as 3/1. The market is usually right with his horses.

    3.15 Punchestown
Follow The Plan. On the book, he shouldn't beat Quel Esprit, but he looked really well at Aintree and turned in his best ever performance in beating a better field than this -and he looked the winner a long way out. On that form, best price 8/1 looks generous to me.

    4.30 Punchestown.
    Wing Tips (Each Way).
He ran a good race at the Festival to finish fifth behind Countrywide Flame at 100/1. Although he was behind Hissabaat, he is lightly raced and his form looks progressive. At 33/1 (9/2 A Place) on Betfair , he could pay dividends. The booking of Barry Geraghty is significant
