Happy with the place there. Agree quel, shocking race. Menorah is useless and FL is a 3miler and yet they were j-favs. Gonna have to bet on the Fly to watch the race at work, might double it up with the bumper horse that stick tipped up and savethehumas said was all systems go. Just for a couple of quid though.
Menorah was beaten by the ground as much as anything. I don't mind him in general. I just accept that he's basically crap but when nothing else turns up and conditions are in his favour he's slightly less crap than the majority of 2 mile novices.
I see Hurricane Fly won to take his record to 8 wins from his last 9 races. Now, I have backed him once in those last 9 races, would anyone care to hazard a guess at which one? I think the expression rhymes with "Clucking Bell"
Oddy haha - sounds like when I bet on So You Don't - every other bloody time he wins - Fiddler O'Brien !!!
Don't feel too bad oddDog as you're not alone on that one. Atr going on about Mullins having the first 3 home. There was only 4 in the race and the other was a rank outsider.
I think Lyreen Legend has a corking chance in the next at Punchy - decent form on heavy ground behind the likes of Boston Bob and Monksland and this will take some getting today
I think Hurricane Fly was a big disappointment. He never travelled, he never jumped and he made heavy weather of beating Zaidpour. He might bounce back but I wouldn't bet on it. He is a flat bred and he'll be 9 next year and it could easily be that his best days are behind him. I hope I'm wrong but I can't help but feel a sense of crushing disappointment after that.
He's not called Davy Russell any more...he's had his name changed to the Champion Jockey elect.......sick of hearing it this week! Cracking run from COLOUR SQUADRON, will make up into a smart hurdler next year
Who do you think will be the big players in the Champion Hurdle scene next year stick? Spirit River and Grandouet, if fit and well, will surely be thereabouts but the old guard of HF, Binocular, Overturn et al probably past their best? Absolute Shambles has a decent chance here at Plumpton
The youngsters will come through oddy although a lot of them are going chasing. Spirit River will certainly be high on the list.
Zenyatta I have never known anyone like you. Nothing is impressive apart from Simonsig or Sprinter Sacre. How about Thousand Stars being well beaten off and Zaidpour being a 2 stone better horse on soft ground ?
Rock On Ruby will take some beating but like Zen I think Fly has peaked. Cinders And Ashes could make up to anything and I think the King horse Balder Succes will be a big player next year. A number of shrewd judges think a lot of him!
