Career wise he's scoring at 1 in 5 & this season is BR's no2 with 7 in 34 (2sub). Is he good enough for the squad?
    Or Yakubu has 17 in 30 (3sub) ??

Sunderland face competition from Bayern and Marseille for Blackburn ace Hoilett
    UPDATED: 21:00 GMT, 26 April 2012

Sunderland are hoping they can entice Junior Hoilett to stay in the Barclays Premier League if Blackburn Rovers are relegated next month.

But manager Martin O'Neill faces stiff competition from Champions League finalists Bayern Munich and Marseille to land the talented forward.

Both European giants have been frequent visitors to Ewood Park this season and Canadian Hoilett, who joined Blackburn's academy at the age of 13, impressed O'Neill in their meeting earlier in the season.

Chief scout Brian 'Pop' Robson has since joined the regular observers at Blackburn matches.

This would be a fantastic signing, though I fancy he'll return to Germany

Think what the fee will be with those clubs interested. Do we really want to blow our summer budget on him?

If he is in the £10m plus bracket I'd say no as he wont score the 20 plus goals a season we really need from our stellar signing this coming transfer window. We are creating a **** load of chances and what we desperately need is someone to be on the end of them.

Hoilett is a terrific young player IMO but another Darren Bent is what we need, not another Sessegnon.

I completely disagree. We need another Sessegnon AND another striker.

I would think he we went for him, he would play on the RW. We need flair in midfield, as well as strikers up front. That is how mush SB f**ked our team up!
I would pay 10million on him, then spend another 10million through Gyan sales on a striker, then left overs on other areas.

Our main priority has to be attacking midfield and strikers.

He's worth every penny of £10million and would completely change the one-dimensional nature of the midfield.

This would be a superb signing, no question.

He might fancy Bayern, but will he play? Robben, Ribery, Kroos, Schweinsteiger... Who gets dropped??

Isn't his fee subject to a tribunal with him being under 24 and out of contract? Can't see it being anywhere near 10m

I wouldnt touch him with a ten foot barge pole for 10 million !!! He;s hardly bloody prolific..I agree with Cest we need a proven 15 goals a season man and if that means forking out then so bloody be it. Mr Bent would be nice but he wont come back here, even if Villa are relegated (also according to Twitter thought to have been very very emotionally upset by his reaction from the SAFC fans up here...**** me is he living in cloud cuckoo land !) A bit of a thought here, but does anyone know how many Holt has got this season ???? put a nippy little bugger in along side him and it just might pay off and id imagine we would get him for pennies and he would jump at the chance being a cumbria boy

He's NOT a striker, his goal record is excellent, he has also improved all season, and his goals-per-game from RM second half of the season is superb.

I think he offers a lot more overall than Seb mate, his pace, for a counter attacking outfit, would be the most significant asset.

I'd fancy a set up like this -

    STRIKER (Any bastard striker...)
    Sess
    McLean SEB Catts Hoillett

I think that is very tidy indeed.

Hoilett would be a Great cherry on the cake signing if we already had 2 good strikers. Say we had bent and Gyan still, I'd blow my summer budget on Hoilett.

However, money is going to be tight and we absolutely desperately need 2 good strikers, a left back and a bit more pace in the middle.

I'd hate to blow £12m on Hoilett and then have a makeshift left back again next year and a couple of nobodies us front. If we had £40m to spend then so be it. We won't though.

    Just my opinion like.

I think we'll get Fletcher, him and Hoillett would maybe cost £15million.

We'd need another striker still, and a left back, but this could be done.

We're owed £8million for Bent, and we'll see £10million for Gyan form some cash rich desert dwellers, so there will be some money there.

I think the main thing is wages, we need Ringo gone, and Gordon frees up 45k a week (cheers Keano, again..)

Not impossible but you'd have to suspect he'll have his sights set higher than Sunderland given his current stock, ability and most attractive of all his contract situ. I'd love him at Newcastle for the left side of a front three but I'd have my doubts we'd be able to persuade him away from the likes of Bayern or the big 4 or 5 in this country.

Have you run this theory past chapped Dick? According to him you are the new man Utd so therefore it would be whether if was good enough to be allowed to come and not vice versa? Lol

Hoilet would improve us ENORMOUSLY! We desperately need more creativity in midfield, people like him and Nathan Dyer who can get past defenders and pull them out of position. That would make the job of our strikers a lot easier. I have a feeling that Campbell is going to have a season for us -and yes we need someone good in there too, such as Fletcher, -imagine him in the middle to direct McLean's crosses towards goal, as opposed to donkey-boy Bendtner?

JH is a fooking MASSIVE yes for me and Fletcher too

Dyer's a shout mind, he's electric at times, very similar to Hoillett, with maybe a little less end product.

He'd be cracking down the right.

There's Matty Phillips of course, I know a few of us like him, he can play left, right and centre, and has a better eye for goal than the other 2 (admittedly at a lower level).

He'd cost little as well (wages and fee)
