If it were me I'd discount any team that has been in a CL final for the last 5 years. The New Mestalla could have hosted it, as could the Westfalenstadion
They did'nt qualify this year though did they.,its EUFA's policy of jumping ahead of themselves that needs looking at.
Basically they should have a plan B if the said team reaches the final. It's supposed to be a neutral game, except it basically turns out like a home tie for one of the teams.
That's really all they need to do. Have a standby ground and switch at quarter finals time if necessary. I'm no fortune teller, but I reckon I could get 12 of the last 16 teams correct for next years QFs.
i cl is not for the fans it's about making money,so the tickets go to the corporate sponsors, instead of real football fans
Wasnt there a similar situation last year? An English team playing a Spanish team in the final in England? Ok London isnt Manchester but (Stereotypes aside) its a hell of a lot cheaper and easier to get from the north of england to london than from Spain. I dont recall the crowd appearing that biased/lopsided in last years final...... Maybe Im wrong. That aside, an allocation of 17,500 at the allianz is every bit as pathetic as an allocation of 25,000 at wembley. I understand making room for sponsors and officials, but half the bloomin stadium? I dunno....
Whilst it is not a major difference, most would agree their is a difference between playing the final in your own country and playing one on your own pitch. But, I think it should be completely neutral. Wait till say the qtrs, see whose left and pick a neutral venue. Or have a back up once finalists are decided. As the Liverpool fan said earlier, how come Uefa have backed down on their stance following the Roma final? Best venue now would be Paris as is pretty much in the middle.
As for allocation, it's a joke. Chelsea / Liverpool would have had around 35-40k at every home tie, 35k at the semi and then only 25k of those can go to the final so a load of hangers can go.
Well,if you think you can organize one of the worlds largest sporting events in a few weeks you go for it.I'm sure there is a lot of money to be made doing something like that. Good luck with it. Hotel rooms to book and pay for,fan events to arrange, broadcasting contracts to be issued, advertising to sell. You have a busy few days.
