I liked the part where you slagged Comas off for attacking Daffy all the time and now all your posts are attacks on Comas.

Daffy's keenness was a blatant attempt to cover his plastic status. Given his bitterness towards Chelsea im guessing he supported them up until last year. He was probably about 12.

 

we all are really overreacting to this and making this look big, we just need to move on, this board is about Manchester United, there was no need to make a thread about this.

maybe matth did act and behave like a child but we also can see he loves Man Utd i like everyone here, we all are Man Utd fans, we shouldn't be abusing each other, we're meant to be united, daffy_matth was a die hard united fan, maybe his threads were childish and he keeps on repeating the same topic and everyday tells s what his mates say which are annoying at times but he doesn't deserve this much abuse.

he's been banned now leave it as that, here was no need to make it a big cause and make a tread about it.

plus i don't think we'll see the end of him here, i reckon he'll be back in another name, i remember in bbc606 every time he gets banned few days after he would come back in another name so the mods have to be alert on that.

I will make this as short as I can, I banned him yesterday and I read how harsh it was, well here is why. I was dragged on here last night to find posts about bullying and none stop, IMO, stupid thread after thread revolving around 2 people, Daffy and Comas, both being very stupid, I posted asking them to stop and move on or I would ban them. Comas seemed to back off a little, Daffy responded by posting I think three more threads in the same vein, I banned him for 3 days and told him to take time out to calm down. He responded to that by creating a new account and continuing where he had left off, his new and old account both became permanent bans.Comas responded to that by posting a comment gloating about if he came back he would get him banned again within 3 days, very childish IMO.

I don't like banning people but if they act like idiots I have little choice, Daffy could have done what many have done in the past, created a new account, PM'd me asking why the ban, talked about it and get the ban lifted, he chose to say up yours and continue being an idiot.

Daffy create a new account under a new name and learn from his mistake and that's fine, I don't want anyone to stay away, I just want them to think of others who want to enjoy this forum.

No doubt someone will tell me I'm wrong and that's fine, its a free country.

I liked Daffy at the beginning. He was entertaining in a strange sort of way. He got a bit too much when he flooded the board with new threads about his thoughts and what his friends had told him. I did suggest that the mods could limit his new threads to something like 5-10 a day. 2000 posts many of them OPs in less than 2 months says it all.

 

I'm not too happy with the ban situation when there are people more deserving of bans on this site but Syd has acted and I'll accept that. Matth was maybe too keen to create threads most of the time and had this desire to be the first to post news before anyone else but I guess thats to do with his condition. It was difficult with Matth since at the beginning his threads gave new life to our board at a time when it was struggling. However we had to close an increasing amount of his threads as well as speak with him as they were merely duplicates and to some people, he was just intent on spamming our board. However I feel he was sincere and just couldn't help himself.

Yes this is a board for grown ups and thank God it isn't the BBC. I also feel us United Mods are probably more long suffering that other mods here and we do allow a certain amount of wumming from our rivals since I enjoy the banter as well as winding our rivals up at times. But in spite of all that, I'm not really comfortable with the abuse a kid with autism took while some of the guys who dished it out are still active on the site. Personally I don't give a damn who is angry about that it but thats how I feel.

But like I said, Syd has acted so lets move on.

 

Just curious how many people knew he had autism? I didn't find out until early in this thread, and if people did know should they have treated him differently? I'd imagine he'd want to be treated like we would treat anyone else in that situation. Not that he should have been abused like that in the first place.

 

It was a well know fact on 606 on the BBC site. Also his writing style is very distinctive and gives away his condition. People with autism often have a preoccupation with some topics. For e.g, they may be fascinated by video games or in Matth's case creating threads constantly or creating them first before anyone else. Also some people with autism have symptoms not unlike Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I think this can be seen in that Matth was more active than normal, and tended to post or create threads without thinking.

 

Sorry but not everyone used the old 606. And it certainly isn't a condition when you sign up to this site to be able to scan peoples posts for autism. I didn't have a clue until Alan told everyone after the Chelsea game. In hindsight yes, it may of come through on his posting style, but without knowing for sure people can't be expected to assume people have autism.

Anyway, I didn't mind him to be honest, made me laugh at times

 

Agreed you cannot expect people to have autism but tbh it was mentioned by Matth himself before the Chelsea match.

 

That's the problem with forums. It's a revolving door, people come and go. You simply can't be expected to read every post.

Syd, was it you that was editing Matth's posts last night as he was complaining Comas was editing his posts but only mods can edit posts?

 

My 2p' worth:

While he brought activity to the forum, it was on many occasions the wrong type. When the attention began to be focussed on him rather that the football, the club, the players or match, then it was time to act. For a short while I thought he was a scouser trying to sabotage the board because on one specific day the board was literaly flooded with new threads.

The board will be quieter for his absence. No doubt he will resurface with some other name and as long as it is bearable I think we should let him stay. We have to be tolerant of all types, don't we? (he says with insight!! ).

I realise I myself go on rants sometimes about some buffoon who is taking his club to mid table mediocrity (that's my "passion") and I am grateful for the mods for showing some tolerance.

 

I have never edited a post in my life, dont believe in it and can never see a reason for it TBH

The decision has been made and too take him back at the moment will cause more problems IMO. TBH the United Mods had been in discussion recently about how to deal with the situation in light of the uproar Matth's threads were causing plus the reaction against him. However we couldn't decide upon a solution. Honestly I feel that the mods of each board should have the ability to ban users from their board but that's another discussion.

 

I thought you had ability to do this already. From my own experience..

 

No point as the cyber bullying and abuse will continue towards Matth.
