Punchestown 6.05 Felix Yonger 9/4 massive run in the Neptune when he was sent off a criminally underrated 16/1. He should have been half that price even with Simonsig in the field after some very good runs in Ireland. I've been waiting for this horse since Cheltenham and think he's got an outstanding chance. If Lyreen Legends run against Boston Bob is accurate he is the danger.
Are there only really four runners in the Champion Hurdler tomorrow! And 3 of them are from the Mullins stable!! ATR have quevga in in for tomorrow (Ihavent added her in to that list coz its got to be a mistake)
Punchestown 18:05- Colour Squadron 5/1 Im afraid Ive got to against you Quel! I dont really like going up against anyone it puts me in more doubt about my selections, I dont need any more of that We have never really seen how good this horse really is, coz he keeps falling! Which i know is abig issue in a hurdle race. He would have easily won the tolworth if he hadnt chucked it away hanging like a barge to the left! And surely would have finished 2nd behind the mighty impressive Simonsig LTO which is intresting in comparison to Quels fancy Felix Younger who came second to him at Cheltenham. Was disappoting in the Supreme Novices at the festival but perhaps cheltenham course is not for him- not all horses to take to the course and big hill. He has beaten supreme novices second Mountbazon once before and surely would have gone close if not for falling at newbury back in february. Has won over 2m on soft ground before. Im sure he would have learnt alot from his runs and Hobbs stable has already had a pretty big winner at this years festival and is back in form so providing he can stay on his feet, and keep Dickie Johnson on him (which I am confident he has done quite abit of schooling at it) he should make all the running which will only play in to his hands and should keep infront and not let anyone pass him
Without Simonsig in the Neptune your boy would have been a mightily impressive winner. The big danger for me is Colour Squadron who was going extraordinarily well when coming down at Aintree. I am torn between the pair so I may do something I rarely do and have the RFC. I really like LADY OF GLENCOE in the bumper. What a shame that the CH has such a poor turnout.
Bleeding heck. Have I read this one wrong? Everyone wants to back Colour Squadron. Are you lot not worried about him falling when he gets tired?
I think AP is just letting RJ ride him as he has ridden him all season. I doubt that necessarily means that he isn't the best of the McManus duo but it might mean that he thinks neither will win it. Felix Yonger ran a cracker at Cheltenham behind the Grey Aeroplane and a repeat should be enough. I couldn't be backing anything at the price on that ground though so I'm keeping my money in my pocket.
Quevega was only entered in case something went wrong today. Mullins would have looked a mug if she unseated at the first and he'd taken her out of this race.
Stick, I was told Lady Of Glencoe was as good as the winner of this bumper last Saturday by a friend who has ties with the owner, but i don't think they were anticipating the weather we have had here this week, it's bottomless ground and i'm not sure the horse will appreciate it. If i can find out anymore tomorrow i will post here as soon as i can. I will still prob end up backing it anyway. Goodluck.
19.00 Chepstow- Ruben Cotter 7/2 Cant be bothered to do a write up sorry but is on one from my tracker!
2.20 Sandown Famous Name 2/1 (BOG) This is a race I would have left alone this afternoon but for the heavy ground. The Dermot Weld trained Famous Name should relish these conditions and it looks significant that the trainer has sent him over for this race. The 7yo has an excellent record over todays distance (8 wins from 11 starts) and also has leading form claims. He got off the mark this season at the first time of asking when winning at Leopardstown earlier this month and I am hoping he can go in again today. 6.05 Punchestown –Colour Squadron 5/1 (BOG) This looks a good renewal of the Champion Novice Hurdle and I will be surprised if we get a 16/1 winner of the race this year. There is no doubting that the current favourite Felix Younger sets a very high standard and he is going to be tough to beat if running to the same level of form he showed at Cheltenham when running second to Simonsig in the Neptune Investment Management Novice’s Hurdle. The ground should be no problem for this Willie Mullins trained horse but at 7/4 I am willing to take him on. I am going to have a small bet on COLOUR SQUADRON, this 6yo has leading form claims but needs to jump better having come down on two of his last three starts. He was travelling powerfully on both occasions and whilst it would be foolish to suggest he would have beaten Simonsig last time it is possible he could have got closer to him than Felix Younger did at Cheltneham. The selection himself disappointed at the festival when finishing only 13th in the Supreme Novices hurdle, but for me he showed enough at Aintree to suggest that performance was all wrong. He is yet to encounter heavy going but has smart form on a soft surface and I am hoping he can handle the conditions this evening.
Hurricane Fly EVEN money with Paddy Power http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novel...nhanced-facebook-special?ev_oc_grp_ids=479315
Morning chaps... Another day of misery with the weather outside, and the out look for the weekend is just as bad... Oh joy...!!! Again im not to bothered about the racing and even though ive had a look cant make my mind up... I see Sotovik who stick called yesterday runs again today at Perth but i doubt that he will follow up that with a win today... With Plumpton and Chepstow starting later this afty i might get involved with some runners there... Good luck to all today...
I had a look at the G1 Novice Chase at Punchy. It's an open affair with Menorah and First Lieutenant looking the better chances, but I think the state of the track could bring others into the race. The one that seems to like the stuff is Shot From The Hip. Well out of it on weights, he doesn't measure up on paper. But if they all did, we'd all be millionaires. Punchestown. 16:55 Shot From The Hip.
Why when they limit your bet do they pick such random amounts?! Paddy Power let me have £20.41 on that Even money special.
I really like Bear Behind in the first TV race at Sandown, obviously the Johnston horse could be anything, but BB goes on the ground and with an attacking ride he can be hard to pass here.
