I am falling in love with them also. Having just been playing footy for an hour I wish my team mates could play like this lot. Big hard doing it all on my own pink boots were on tonight
How anyone was doubting Quevega is above me, and that was proved! What a trainign performace by Mullins its gone all to plan for the last 3 years. 2 races 2 wins a season! For he to go any race odds against is like printing money! She is a class above the in the staying hurdler division except for the Champ himself! Would destroy her!
What's so fascinating is the Bilbao keep finding such talented youngsters. It's unbelievable how successful they are given the pool of players they can choose from. I wish them every success. I know what you mean about the speed horses Oddy, Ruby had to go when he did. I just don't believe Big Bucks wanted to hit the front so soon with no-one to battle. The way he quickend up when VLV drew close to level after the last makes me think he had more to give if required. Also Paul Nicholls was so out of form that week and ROR was from the satellite yard so Big Bucks' perfomance was mighty impressive. Quevega quickend up nicely today and is a wonderful horse. But I think any talk of her beating Big Bucks or even giving him a tough race is premature. One is the best staying hurdler of all time and one isn't. I agree Wooly, I was on today only at 11/10 though and at Cheltenham at 8/13. Mullins is flying right now though so I do think today we saw Quevega on top of her game whereas at Cheltenham Mullins was somewhat out of form and she still battered the mares with consumate ease.
Llorente surely Real Madrid bound?! I have a question re Mullins' comments. Imagine, God Forbid, that Big Bucks missed next years festival and nothing new (ie Boston Bob, Bridisi Breeze if not chasing) has shown enough to suggest they are special. Do you think Quevega would still go for the mares hurdle? It would be very interesting because to go for the World Hurdle in that scenario would suggest they have been dodging Big Bucks all along.
Pep Guardiola is understood to be on the brink of ending his tenure as manager of Barcelona after telling the club he cannot carry on. BABY
One is the best male staying hurdler of all time and the other is the best female staying hurdler of all time.....and she would be getting 7lbs!
I think if Big Bucks missed next years festival- there would be a whole load of trainers lining up for that race all thinking they have a chance! But that is a very good question George! She has beaten all the other boys and Mullins knows she would never beat the champ! So maybe he would think about it- a new triumph to her very long list of honours!
If she lined up she would probably win but in doing so Mullins would be admitting that he knows she cannot take on Big Bucks. That said maybe deep down we all know that anyway.
I reckon he would stick to his guns and run her in the Mares Hurdle. Big Buck's hasn't had a race run to suit since Grands Crus gave him a lovely lead down the home straight at Aintree last year. That is what he wants. A nice solid tempo on good ground, with a horse to take him away from the others, and he can then engage overdrive and power clear to the line. He is useless at making his own running because he doesn't do a thing in front which is why all the jockeys sit in behind him hoping to catch him out. It doesn't work but it is closer to working than giving him a lead.
Doubt it George. Mou is a fan but Perez isn't.Besides,RM have plenty of fire power and Llorente would not fit into their normal counter attacking style. He would be utilised in a similar fashion to his role with the Spanish Selection, which only plays him to chase a game or break a stalemate as a plan B option. Llorente doesn't want to sit on the bench. His buy out is â¬40m and thats much too pricey for the Madridians currently. He has already been offered a â¬5.2m package with Bilbao so that will have to be bettered. Man City are favourites even though the vendee would incur a 20% taxation tariff on top of the transfer fee. His wages are lightly taxed in the Basque region, which has a considerable degree of autonomy, and consequently any buyer would have to offer in the region of £160,000 a week. Manchester City are the only team that can afford that. Can't belive no one discusses Javi Martinez (apart from Quel) who is the best midfield/defensive player in the Athletic team and indeed in Spain by some margin. Be a shame to see the team dismantled but business is business and Athletic move into a new 55,000 stadium next year. The business model is similar to the Highbury/Emirates plan and developing the old site commercially and residentially will be difficult in the current market. The same problem The Arsenal faced. Staggered that Manu are interested in De Marcos at 30m..he is a decent player and cost only 350,000,but Ibai deputised tonight and was far superior.Another example of a transfer cock up from Mu..to pick him out of this years competition as a target says a lot about the state they are in and their shocking acquisitions policy latterly. What a performance, what a team, what a bunch of fans. I'd recommend anybody to visit San Mames. It really does rock. Aupa!
Blimey!...watching SS news...what the hell is going on in Scotland...death threats to SFA members.!!.
Overated player him imo Dex very overated. Looks like he is going to fall over every time he gets the ball.
