Kind of following on from the article about which teams do you hate, but with a different spin - there seems to be a lot of consistency amongst hate for man u, shef u, arsenal, chelsea, liverpool, leeds etc. most of it due to historic events and feelings from when you were a kid / growing up, it got me thinking about my own perceptions of certain teams, hate or liking, based on our experiences specifically over the past few years.

Arsenal for example are a team who I had pretty neutral feelings towards until we beat them at the Emirates and their fans turned on us like a bunch of illiterate half wits, followed a few months later by their illiterate half wit players turning on us after the FA cup game.

Another team for me are Spurs, again I pretty much nothinged them, but after seeing them destroy us 5-1 and after watching the 0-0 at WHL i've grown to admire them quite a bit, they were, on that 5-1 day, the best team we've ever come up against in my opinion, and at WHL I was really really impressed with their home support too

QPR, again never had any feelings about them either way, but after that 1st game in the Championship grew to dislike them substantially, and this season with colin in charge and their fan's view that they are destined for champions league football has turned that dislike into an almost unreasonable hatred of the club

I never thought i'd say this either....having grown up hating Man U, following the loan and transfer dealings between the club Manucho NOT INCLUDED, i'm starting to not hate them and especially with it being between them and Arsenal this year find myself willing them to win..strange eh?

When I was at school I hated Leeds United, I was about the only kid that went to see football games, city every week of course, yey these little oiks would walk around in their Leeds shirts making fun of me supporting me tigers and some of them had never even seen a game not on telly.
However I think the last few years have taught TWS a little humility and now I know some Leeds fans (from Leeds I might add) that are a pretty good bunch and have kept going regardless of the division they are in and being faffed around by uncle Ken.
Now I still have no time for the Hull Whites of course but overall Leeds are ok in my book these days.
I'll probably get slaughtered for that confession :)

My opinion of Leicester and QPR has shot down this season. Leicester because they seem to have an obsession with Nigel and Matty Fryatt and telling us how rubbish they are compared to Sven and Yakubu.

Agree totally with the point about Arsenal, I too previously disliked Man Utd (taught to do so when growing up) but actually want them to win the premier league this year.

But TWS will always represent utter vermin to me, having witnessed first hand on more than one occasion their fans attacking women and kids. Also subjecting innocent passers by to unprovoked torrents of racial abuse. Also having been at Odsal as a 13 year old with some Bradford supporting friends when Leeds fans showered the Bradford fans (of all ages and gender) with bricks and stones from behind the stand

I should add that none of these events had anything to do with City so I dont have Amber Goggles on !

John Firth - pretty much agree about TWS - lived in Leeds for 12 years from being there at University but have always supported City. Their suppporters certainly have more humility about them after suffering 3rd tier footie for 2/3 years. What I can't abide is the remnants or dregs of the Hull Whites that still exist albeit in much smaller numbers.

I dislike the attitude and past behaviours of Leeds fans not the team. I think they generate a great atmosphere at Elland Road but as East Yorkshire born I wouldn't support a wessie club. They don't speak like me & East Yorkshire has the sea and Hull has docks, shipping, the fishing herritage.

Millwall are like a tribe but their club has earnt a very bad name for hooliganism and I think the young ones are trying still to live up to their infamous fathers..

Can you imagine them unleashed on the squeaky clean PL??

Abroad, I don't like Lazio for their fascism nor Real Madrid for their supposed dodgy bankrolling by the Spanish government/royal family.. don't know the details but it's questionable.. spending so much money is not good for the game..

I don't like the way Stoke City play football but admire their togetherness and the way they've survived and established themselves in the PL.. something we could have emulated..

I appreciate clubs like West Brom & Blackpool, they do it the right way IMO.. sticking to their principles..

I'm getting sick of Burnley & Sunderland irritate me.. but it's because these two always bloody beat us and in Slumberland's case, nick our players..

The Stoke comparison makes me laugh. They've spent 100's of millions more than us just to scrape through. The players have had a number of fallings out and the manager and chairman are relatively recently back from being booted out and the manager is still subject to calls for him to go.

Blackpool's finance structure is slightly different in form to ours, but the outcome's similar.

Cant believe the view on Leeds!

For me it's actually Stoke! Yes the fans are another bunch of inbred knuckle dragging apes, but I now admire what Tony Pulis has achieved! I don't agree with the view that they've spent 100's of millions, they've played to thier strength and now look like a solid EPL outfit. Wish we could say the same!

I like Bristol City after their response to being beaten in the play off final. Very magnanimous in defeat, thought their fans were terrific in a great game.

Newcastle. I developed an affinity for them when I lived up there. As time as gone I've come to dispise the way that they like to see themselves and the way the media portrays them.

<laugh>

C'mon be honest.

Nigel Pearson, and Matty Fryatt (who was once second top goalscorer in league 1!!)

Or Sven and Yaubu (who we're both at the last World Cup)

Every monday morning if city lost they used to tease the hell out of me and brag about their wonderfull teams win that put them top of the league or whatever.
Funny thing is I found a few of my old chums on spacebook recently and it seems they all have season tickets at the KC these days, or at least they did last season.

I bet all them little pricks were cheering on THEIR team at wembley a couple of years ago too

Asmir Begović - £3.25m
Danny Higginbotham - £2.5m
Robert Huth - £5m
Danny Collins - £3.5m
Glenn Whelan - £500k
Tom Soares - £1.25m
Kenwyne Jones - £8m
Ricardo Fuller - £500k
Mamady Sidibe - Free
Marc Wilson - U/K (Cash + Lawrence and Kitson, who cost £6m)
Danny Pugh - £500k
Salif Diao - Free
Jermaine Pennant - £2m
Ryan Shawcross - £2m
Dean Whitehead - £4m
Jonathan Walters - £2.75m
John Carew (on loan)
Michael Tonge - £2m
Rory Delap - Free
Abdoulaye Faye - £2.25m
Matthew Etherington - £2m
Carlo Nash - Free
Andy Wilkinson - Academy
Thomas Sørensen - Free
Ryan Shotton - Academy

In addition there's seven other squad members not mentioned, who are out on loan(including Gudjohnson and Sonko) and there are several players bought for substantial fee's that have now moved on, like Tuncay Şanlı.

Just the current squad alone cost well in excess of £50m and their annual wage bill isn't far of the same amount. Their spending far exceeds their income and the only reason they don't go bust is because Peter Coates keeps personally bankrolling them every year with millions of his own cash. They may have achieved mid table Premier League status, but there has been a high price to pay and they're still **** to watch and top most polls of teams that other clubs fans would like to see relegated.
