http://fcbusiness.co.uk/news/article/newsitem=1766/title=tv cash windfall for promoted clubs Not really new information but interesting nonetheless. No pressure on Saturday, lads!
OK, Rickie. You could be the first scouser to get your hands on this kind of money without resorting to a balaclava! Take us to the Premier League, you genius!
Indeed, nothing new, but an update all the same. The figure has gone up by a few tens of millions, since some financial boffin was first quoted, many years back. I assume it is always a best average figure, rather than for a club that never gets on the TV, struggles at the foot of the PL, etc..? It does bring back into sharp focus where all the Pompey money went. I remember when, earlier this season, Steve Claridge lamented that not a penny went into infrastructure. They went into the PL with little, they eventually came away with less. Of course, Milan Mandaric made a pile, but that was just astute business sense, on his part. Some day perhaps we'll get a proper explanation.
The figure goes up every year and is probably best treated with a pinch of salt. Looks like they get the TV money, parachute payment money if we went straight back down, shake it around and come out with a number. Is £90m going to appear in Nicola's current account, no. In any case I don't think increased income is going to change the way Nicola runs the club.
Well, tbf, we have an opportunity to sit in a bit of it, every other week, but yes I take your point. Of course not, and I'd like to see a true figure, rather than these, pie in the sky, claims. What is relatively clear is that there should be enough to be competitive AND to build for the future, provided nobody expects large handouts from day one.
