Think he's a decent manager but am quite disappointed as I feel he should have had more loyalty. Wouldn't have minded him succeeding wenger later on but how long before he leaves again? On a side note cesc must be devastated!
I wouldn't want it to happen... No doubt he has done great things at Barcelona, but I'd like to see him inherit a team with no Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc. before assigning too much credit to him. When he took over there was an obvious improvement in Barcelona's pressing game, and the fitness of players but he still inherited a top group of players. It's really difficult to say that an average manager wouldn't be able to win things with that side. Against Chelsea/Inter his team kind of remind me of the Arsenal 07/08 team (except with much higher quality players). Excellent against most opponents and when things are going well, but no plan B to grind results. Guardiola wouldn't be an improvement in 'winning things', unless he gets a much bigger budget than Wenger. (if it comes to that why not just give Wenger a bigger budget?)
The best course of action for him and Barcelona would be for him to stay honestly. Every team will have ups and downs, no matter how good they are. They would benefit to have a different type of CF/AM as an option in there though to give them more variety. All of their players more or less provide the same type of utility. I feel if they had an Etoo in that team Tuesday things would have been different. Plan A has worked for them so good for so long, just due to their superior qualities, that the guy's tactical abilities haven't ever really been tested.
He only ever signs a 12 month contract so he can, in his words, take a year out the game if he chooses. Chelsea's obsession with big names managers has (in the main) failed, AVB was the future and the patience ran out with him what 6 months into a 5 year stint ? Yet here you are with the caretaker proving more successful than any. Interesting quotes from Lampard in the Standard tonight that RDM should be given the job because he's 'united' the dressing room again, I'd be pointing the finger at the players and more so the senior players if there was ever any dis unity....
Dont think he will go anywhere - he is quitting because of pressures from home and the fact the job is too 'all emcompassing' for him and his family. I reckon a year out, and then back to a top job - once his wife is fed up of him being at home!
Cesc wont play now. Guardiola tried to shoe horn cesc into that team. Was a bad move. Cesc didnt fit in and he isnt good enough. Cesc will be better in a deeper role when xavi hangs his boots up. Untill then he should be a rotation player and a back up who can play vs the bad sides. Note to RVP - nobody leaves us and goes on to better things (a few exceptions ok - A.Cole). Cesc made a mistake leaving.
Nope. He engineered his move. Dont give a **** about barca being his parent club. We made him and then he fcked off before he was even mid 20's. And he ruined us with his constant transfer sagas too. What is worse is that he wasnt even that good. He was part of the reason we were so slow in possesion and out of possesion he was lazy.
I can understand that though yoj do realize.the fact that if barca want to sell him we have first refusal on him suggests we are willing to take him back?
Exactly cesc was part of the problem, not the solution, and one of the reasons we never won a trophy,
Guardiola would be perfect to take over from our "Arsenal project". It would be considerably less pressure for him and we would give him time to bed in and stamp his mark on our team. It would be an ideal job for him to take. We play football the Barca way and he would be able to fine tune our team to winning ways. As long as he gets a decent transfer budget to supplement the team, there is no way he can't make us champions in no time. As for Wenger, it's debatable if he's still got it. I just wish that Wenger get's in some top quality this summer transfer window and see what he can do with it. For quite some time he's had excuses like he's building a new squad, or the Emirates is costing us loads so we have to tighten our belts etc. I just don't want to hear any excuses and for him to get on with it. We have one of the largest stadiums in the world, we take in loads of money and we have some good youth players coming through. Next year will be interesting.
I prefer rosicky. We are fantastic to watch again like the henry days. Pace and speed. Not tippy tappy trying to be barca lite. Barca are dull as fck neway, let cesc dull it up there and try and do 1000 passes a game as if that is interesting Moral of the story - never lose arsenal. You will regret it. We are the greatest club to play for. It is obvious.
Guardiola would be a big risk. No doubt he plays well and gives youngsters a chance but.doesnt have a plan B and his purchases in the transfer market have been questionable (ibrahimovic mascherano affelay etc) . I wouldnt mi.d him some time in the future once hes gained more experince but he isnt ready yet.
For the stuff in bold I certainly wasnt fooled by his PR trying to disguise his "engineering". The rest I cant agree with - he is a top top player, but was disinterested in his last year particularly.
