I'm not kidding here, I would send her to the Champion Hurdle. She travels like a dream and has such acceleration.
Quevega proving what a classy mare she is - no matter what the going is like, she still beats Voler La Vedette. But how bottomless is the going at Punchestown! Doubt officials at Cheltenham would've allowed the race to be run if the going was like that.
Would get found out in a Champion Hurdle I think... She must surely take on Big Bucks at Cheltenham next year. If they go for the David Nicholson Micky Mouse race again I give up!
If BB and Quevega were to meet at Cheltenham (or anywhere come to think of it) over 3 miles, how do you think the bookies would price it?
Possibly... Big Bucks 10/11 Quevega 7/2 I think her optimum distance is between 2m4/3m. 2 miles I think could be abit sharp for her espcially at Cheltenham. She looks a superstar in the David Nicholson because lets be fair she beats nothing year in year out. We don't know how much the ground flattered her today. I'd love to see her take on Big Bucks. Its surely got to happen now
The owners say they'd rather win the Mares race than come second in the World Hurdle. I'm sure if you asked punters most would happily donate a pound into a pot for the owners to swerve the Nicholson and run in the World Hurdle. She might not beat Big Bucks but she destroyed Voler La Vedette there. Big Bucks didn't do it as easily.
I'd be amazed if Quevega deviated from her plan...why should she?..she,like BB,has a mapped out schedule that won't change. PN knows where Punchestown is if he wants a go.
How short do you reckon they'd have her then? As she ever faced Big Bucks? No As she ever stayed 3miles around Cheltenham? No We don't know how much the ground as gone against some of the others in the race espcially Voler and lets be fair Quevega is probably the freshest horse in the race, She hardly had a race at Cheltenham unlike Voler who took on Big Bucks and didnt do another swerve job for the David Nicholson. I don't see how she could be shorter than 7/2?
