This is just another case of us overhyping our players, fans of other teams don't seem to share our blinkered view!

The reality is that Mike Ashley made some horrendous ****-ups when he first bought our club. Nearly everything he touched turned to ****e, and his attitude towards the fans did not help to say the least.

However in the last couple of years whether he has just got lucky, or whether he has learned from his mistakes, the club has turned around and is now heading in the right direction.

With regards to Steviemac14's complaint that he sanctioned Colo's massive wages, although FFS did the same many times over, the club's new wage structure will not allow this to happen again. People who complain that we will lose Barton because of it should realise that you can't have it both ways.

Plus, the day is fast approaching when all clubs will have to be run like proper businesses, whether we like it or not, that is reality and we are looking likely to be in better shape than most teams when the time comes.

Most fans from other teams that I know think he is a terrific player. The so-called TV experts do too.

Blooming heck, Steviemac. Were you bitten by Ashley when you were a child.

Whatever you say about MA, the figures don't lie. Whatever mistakes he has made - and they were plenty- he hasn't made a penny out of his investment, but has instead propped up the club's finances, with millions of interest-free loans. Compare that to the real villains of the piece, the Hall family, who made an absolute fortune, when they sold out to Ashley. However, they appear to be immune from criticism. Why? Because they are geordies?

As for Fat Freddy, yes he did give us a number of trophy signings, like Owen, Duff, Viduka etc. However, where were they when we had a fight on our hands? Nowhere to be seen, is the answer.

In any event, it is clear from the books that we couldn't afford this level of extravagance, which is why, when other potential purchasers - before MA ever appeared on the horizon - carried out "due diligence", they ran a mile, never to be heard from again.

In the fullness of time, we may even find that we were very lucky that MA came along, with a hostile buy-out, so that due diligence was not possible. Otherwise, we might very well have "done a Leeds", for all we know.

Hopefully, MA has learnt from his mistakes, and can take the club forward, starting this weekend!

He was lucky we got promoted, it was Hughton and the senior players that did that and look at the reward Pie Boy gave them? I'm not normally one to hit the roof over owt but I just hate the ****, end of! If I sound like Tash I apologise.....really I do. Really.

I think that most of us can understand your hate, the relegation season was a disgusting and embarressing display of lies and ineptitude.
But try not to be blinded by hatred. You can't blame Ashley for everything and then give him credit for nothing, it doesn't make sense.

Don't get me wrong, I still don't trust Ashley, but I have to admit that the signs are there that he is doing some things right. The fact that he has ploughed so much money to keep us afloat shows that he sees the club as an asset which he is prepared to protect, so that can't be bad.

The thing is about all the money he has 'ploughed in' - it is all debt to him and to Sports Direct. He's not stupid, he hasn't actually given us all that money. NUFC owes Mike Ashley and Sports Direct for the money he has put in.

Of course, it's an interest free loan, but isn't this what Abramovich and the other wealthy owners do? (apart from man City of course)

When Ashley sells the club, I have no doubt that he will want that money back, but the fact is that the club is well on the may to being able to support itself financially and this has to be a good thing. Whether Ashley is trying to get the club into a financially secure position as an established prem club so that he can sell it, or whether he is genuinely committed to the club long term, does not really matter, the end result is the same.

No doubting that, and at some point we will stagnate - purely because he will begin taking money out...I think their visions is to have us in and around the European spots, with very little investment in 1st team playing staff...We will have a core squad and simply invest in and promote from youth.

Whether or not it will work is debatable, but that's what I can see happening!

as a mackem i agree with some of the things you've said but why should you be beating blackpool stoke blackburn fulham wigan west brom and bolton? It's comments like this why you lot come across as deluded, just because you's have a bigger fan base and stadium doesn't give you the devine right to beat these teams, you have to earn your points no matter who you play, something chris houghton was doing very well until he had the rug pulled from beneath him

Your lot say exactly the same things - "we should beat these mediocre teams" etc - so don't give me that bollocks about us being deluded. All fans are the same, they just want their team to do well.

Do you think that Sunderland should be beating the likes of blackpool stoke blackburn fulham wigan west brom and bolton?

I have heard a lot of your fans say that you should, does that make them deluded?

They are obsessed with us full stop.

Have you seen how many of them have references to us in their signatures.

It's just like having an annoying little brother.

I know and when u see some of them who can't refer to us as Newcastle its pathetic. Ironic how I got a negative rep, for frivolous repping on Saturday, when Roger was hanging about.

I find it hard to believe that Roger is an adult. He is an embarrassment to window-lickers everywhere.
