Sorry t bring the up but we have got to be realistic and missing out on CL is a definite possibility. It'll above anything mean a lack of much needed cash influx with which we delve into for transfers. Obviously Rvp will leave as may some other players. In addition it may also jeopardise our chances of recruiting podolski and I imagine M'vila. Vertonghen who we have been strongly linked with however has continually expressed his desire to join us ahead of the likes if man city so im confident we will get him. We may have to facilitate for alternative transfers and in all likelihood lower our ambitions for next season. However I feel it may relieve us of a lot of pressure and I do feel we may surprise quite a few next year especially considering the one man in our one man team may have left by then.
As far as I am am concerned, RVP will sign anyway, so no 'obviously' about it. I also think Pod has pretty much signed anyway, we just need to wait for the transfer window to get his registration.
Talk is cheap, action is what we want. Once the season is over, i expect RVPs situation to be resolved straight after. We DO NOT want another Nasri and Cesc fiasco....
I agree i think as wenger has suggested its imperative we resolve his conrract prior to the euros. If he wants to leave let him but only for the right price. MagicMan i wish i could share your optimism but the way i see it.the reason he hasnt signed on yet is.bcse he wants to be sure.of cl.qualification which i feel.is unfair but its his.choice. I wouldnt be so sure if i were you. With regards to pod i hope you are right but im not taking anything for.granted.
Definately sort his contract out before the Euros. He either wants to stay or not. In my opinion, part of his waiting is down to our league position and who we bring in. He wants to stay but he is also keeping his options open, which is understandable at his age. But again, no fannying about, get his situation sorted in the first few weeks on our seasons end.
Don't worry! Chelsea will lose in the final to Bayern and Arsenal are going to finish 3rd anyway mate. Chelsea will have to try an win the game away at Bayern
Tbh I think you guys have a good chance of third though ideally speaking I would rather Chelsea lose and arsenal and Newcastle finish 3rd and 4th. Though we can't depend on Chelsea to mess up any longer. At any rate you deserve it if you do make it no doubt.
If we miss out on the CL place this season Wenger will have failed and should fall on his sword or be kicked up stairs. It is high time we had a manager who'se objective is to WIN something instead of this 'just a top 4 place' mentality. Selling your best players every year is not what the fans want.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/champions-league-2012/13-permutations Isn't the third placed team supposed to go through the qualifying round? I think I've lost the plot..
No my friend, it is the 4th team in normal course that has to go through the qualifying rounds, as we did last year. However the 3rd place club will have to pre-qualify if a club below them ( such as Chelsea ) win the CL. That's how I understand it and the way I understand is that there are those who do not understand and there's moi....... Only j/k
Tuffers I dare say many of us feel that way. It is highly irritating to say the least that every year we come away with nothing and indeed arrive at the stage where we have to bite our fingernails when in fact we should have buttoned up CL qualifying with games to spare. The number of points we have thrown away this season is heartbreaking!!!
I have no evidence but I feel it's the board rather than wenger who ought to shoulder the blame as I believe they are responsible for most mishaps in the club. Sacking wenger would be a massive mistake IMO and I key to the long term stability of the club. Trophies will come but you, have got to give it time. Afetrall majority of the clubs have been trophy less for the most part. You may come up with quotes from board members stating wenger has funds to spend but I don't believe a word of it. This year It does seem we have cash to spend irrespective of whether we make cl. It will definitely be a set back but not as major as most are anticipating though alterations wil Inevitably have to be made.
It's not an issue, but despite Barca being better than Bayern, I think Bayern have a more varied game. I think Chelsea have more key defensive players out for the game, and the 'home' advantage will be massive for them. I think they are a favorite by a decent margin but it's definitely winnable for Chelsea.
I disagree thougb we are all entitled to our opinion and i respect yours. Out of curiosity who would you realistically replace him with?
I see fair enough. Though i disagree with regards to wengers status i do agree pep would.be a great successor.
Bayern are a better team than us period, but having watched their two games vs Real for all their possession etc they created very few clear cut chances. Bayern are favourites no doubt but in a final it's ridiculous to say a team "won't or can't win". I learnt from my mistake when Liverpool played Milan in 2005 and have never written a team of in the final since, even Arsenal in Paris although Barca were a better team by a distance. Home advantage can work both ways, yes in some ways it's better but it's also far more pressure
I think not qualifying for the CL would be a big blow and a major disappointment for us. Primarily it would be financial and I think it would stunt our forays into the transfer market, but for all of the outcries at our prudence, we WOULD be able to absorb the lack of cash influx - and for that the board deserve credit for not relying on CL money. As for RVP, I think it might tempt him to look elsewhere. But I do believe that he intends to sign a new contract with Arsenal in the summer. Ultimately, whilst it would be a blow, it would not be the end of the world - there are 16 other clubs who have to deal with it every season. Although I do think morale would take a nosedive for a while, both amongst our players and fans.
