"Prove it " well thats the point - and thats what the whole thing hinges on - can it be proven? if it can you lose the case - if it cant then i guess you dont the point that was originally made though was that even if it is proven, rangers didnt cheat - i merely showed that if it is proven then it could easily be construed as cheating saying "prove it" makes you sound a bit daft though - if i could prove it dont you think i would have let hector know by now??

By that reckoning I could argue that Celtic are in debt, therefore they have played players they couldn't afford. Rangers EBT scheme has been shown to have been an avoidance scheme which was legal at the time it was operated. HMRC have since closed the loophole and said that anyone that has used it, even when legal to do so, should be punished. Rangers probably could have just taken a bigger bank overdraft and upped the players wages and paid it later instead of using EBT's. I think of it as a speculate to accumulate type situation, however the risk backfired and we weren't nearly as successful as we needed to be in order to repay the debts we built up. Now that we are paying the price we will quite rightly have to cut our cloth accordingly.

" i have no problem with a risk reward gamble - but if it involves creditors ultimately not being paid in full, then the risk aspect includes the accusation that you cheated - thats part and parcel im afraid

I don't want to counter this with common sense so I'll let you boys get on with it. It was all Whyte's and the SFA's fault - Whyte wasn't trying to call the taxman's bluff at all and HMRC had no previous interest in Rangers before Whyte took over and were definitely not, I repeat, not trying to extract a payment for taxes outstripping Rangers net value including assets. There's nothing to see here, move along.
