Surely there's a difference between "making a decision" and "being unfair"? Just because he's not playing him, doesn't mean he's being unfair! Life's tough, and no-one has a divine right to get into the team.
Well this will be interesting, how about having a better quality striker on the bench? Just a thought.............
I see that nobody wants to pay out £10m - £15m for one, Dragon (well apart from one poster maybe!) but we've sent someone away to ****ing Blackpool who can score goals [At least one who has the potential to do well for us in the Prem if given a fair crack.] If Rodgers doesn't rate Dobbie at this level for whatever reason then so be it but be prepared to put your hand in your pocket because we have a pretty weak bench.
But can he do it at a higher level? Brendan thinks not that is why he has gone away to Blackpool. And for all the replies on this thread, I can't see anyone answering the question of do we drop for Dobbie? Is he a better option than what we have in the first 11? And would we be in a better league position with him playing?
He hasn't shipped orlandi, gower out, id hardly call them premier class. There's arguments both ways, but I for one don't think he was given enough of a chance.
"who do we drop for Dobbie" Siggy - cos he won't be here. Agustien can be used when needed (different type of player to Dobbie who can hold the midfield).
The difference with orlandi and gower is that they can cover more than one position, dobbie is more limited in that respect. This IMO is what goes against him, our bench has players that can cover a number of options, a Jack of all trades as opposed to being a master of one If buck tweaks things NeXT season There may be a place for the dobster, all is not lost
Nobody has mentioned this yet... maybe Stephen Dobbie is a twat? Much bigger players have been frozen out of much bigger clubs than him! His contribution in the second half of last season, in terms of attack, was second to none (apart from maybe Borini), but what we lost in defence with him in a midfield 3 was shocking, and that was in the Championship. His positioning, discipline and fitness are barely good enough at that level. My thinking is Buck gave him a (granted very brief) go at this level, agreed with his earlier opinion that on the field, Dobbie is a luxury a team like the Swans cannot afford, and started work on finding a way to allow us to retain the ball in midfield whilst also scoring goals. It took a while, but we figured it. There is NO way we'd have kept so many clean sheets early on in the season if Dobbie had been given a run of games, in my opinion. As for playing him up front, well, again I don't think he's good enough. Graham has held the ball up well for us despite it not being his natural game, and I doubt Dobbie could do it as well. As has been said, interesting to see what happens at the end of the season. If Blackpool are willing to pay a couple of mil for him I say sell him, he deserves to be playing football.
Christ man we need a player to the calibre of siggy, no matter what you say that is not dobbie, I like the guy but he is not in the same mould. If siggy goes we need a replacement player it's that simple.
Scott-Top post Dobbie himself asked to go out on loan anyway which has kinda been forgoten by everybody! he wanted to go in January but rodgers wanted to keep him to cover injury. Brenden said that Dobbie just wanted to play games and understood his reasons . Of course with us being safe he might have had his chances to shine but now he is at Blackpool instead.
He asked to go as he was fed up of being praised by buck but never got the chance he assumed he would get to play. buck has had plenty of opportunities to give all our strikers a run out in the first team but he kept on playing danny. he could have used subs at any time for these players but didn't. He would use moore now and again for any other player though.....
"Christ man we need a player to the calibre of siggy" Then we should pay for one. Oh that's right, the Club doesn't want to pay out and the last time I looked we're unlikely to be in the running. And if Dobbie is shipped out for anything other than footballing reasons then Rodgers is a poor manager. End of.
And how would you know the reason he's being shipped out ? Players move on or end contracts by mutual consent. Its part of football. All moves are football moves end of ! Both clubs and players use each other to their own end, if a club came in and offered dobbie to double his wages , he'd be looking to make a move, there is no loyalty in football.
"And how would you know the reason he's being shipped out ?" I was responding to the assertion that Dobbie may be a 'twat'. If that is the reason (and it almost certainly isn't) then Rodgers is a poor manager imo. Good managers deal with their players' egos. Plenty of those in the Prem.
dobbie was being wasted by us, ....ok he might not be the striker we are after but none of the others have been up to much. Just because brendan paid £3.5 million for danny does not mean he is better than anyone else. dobbie and the rest have not had any opportunities that danny has had this season and if brendan had given them a chance then we maybe have a few more wins under our belt.....
