One side doesn't want to join and another doesn't want to leave. I'm talking about Southampton and Cardiff here. Remarkably similar situation for both clubs going into the last game. Southampton are two points clear of dropping in to the playoffs, and we're two points to the good of staying in. Both clubs face the showdown on Saturday, both with their destiny in their own hands. Given the goal difference situations, both clubs just need a single point to retain their current spots and the pressure is all on the chasers..........or is it???? Pressure is a funny thing. Both Soton and Cardiff are so close that West Ham and Boro, the only two clubs that can change the status quo, have got nothing to fear but themselves. In other words, go for the win (nothing else will do) and let whatever happens in the rival's game happen. On paper, Soton look to have the easier task. It would be a major upset if Cov beat them at St. Mary's, but stranger things have happened on the last day. We have to assume that Boro will beat Watford, so as we know, a point at Palace will still do the job for us. Now the question. Who has the greater chance of being a member of that exclusive Playoff Club come Saturday afternoon - Southampton or Cardiff?
i think we'll get the result we need and i think southampton will win, meaning that whatever west ham and boro do, both teams will stay where they are...
Sparkey - I'm trying not to consider the options, just focus on us and then you go and spoil it with that. Why not turn it the other way, if Saints or Boro were to go a goal down (more likely with Boro I think) then the far is upon them and that will mess with their heads. The Spammers are in the play offs anyway so they have more of a comfort zone and should be more relaxed. However, I will be surprised if there are any changes in the top 6 order - I hope!!!!
same as above - both will stay were they are. As a sidenote, I read somewhere that approx 60% of Watford fans would happily see SD play a weakened or reserve team just to piss on Malky's party should we fail at Palace Still bitter after all this time
I read that as well. I also read the flip side is that Dyche wants to beat MM's points total of last season, so wants a result.
What a bunch of sad muppetts!!! Perhaps they should concentrate on supporting what they have now rather than crying over spilt milk. If Sordell isn't likely to get game time at Bolton (if they stay up) perhaps we should nip in with a cut price offer in the summer. Now that would really pee them off. LOL!!!!!!
I can understand the Hornets fans, and if the team decide to do their worst to get at MM, then so be it. Ultimately it is in our hands.
Sorry sparks. I completely ignored your question. I'm afraid to say that I don't think that Southampton or ourselves will be in the play-offs.
I've got an 'orrible feeling you could be right there clingo. We've pushed the self-destruct button enough times before for it not to be a distinct worry. If Southampton do capitulate through nerves to a relegee club, it'd be a major shock - if we blow it, the usual "bottlers" jibe will be trotted out again. Ahh............the life and times of a Cardiff fan, eh?...........
Good morning Oldsparky, Clingo and other long lost "cyber pals"........the fun filters now seem to allow this site from my works pc! Realy think it will all stay as it is.....Saints will be too good for Coventry and you guys will get at least a point I am sure. Been a fairly quiet season here in work and down the pub for me, what with our dire season and your usual top 6 form......nothing like the good old days eh guys?. Even the games between us seem to have lost there edge a bit now don't you think? (probably due to the foregone conclusion that we will get hammered!) Good luck at the weekend guys........
Hello there Caldicot - I was worried you'd topped yourself with the way you've been playing....... Must admit, I've missed the banter with you wurzels this season. I'm sure our superiority on the pitch has led to our magnanimity towards you peasants of the Championship - we have been very easy on you this year and didn't want to inflict further pain. On the other hand, if the positions had been reversed, you lot of straw-chewing, wurzle-munching, smock-wearing twats would have been all over us like a rash.
Oh come on Sparky......not ALL of us. Most of us granted, but some of us elder statesmen are far too gentleman like to behave in that way! Actualy.....f**k it! Come on Palace!...Come on Boro!!!!!
How would you rate your season Spark?.......about what you thought or hoped for? I think you have done all right tbh with what was in effect a complete new set up. One or two strange results where I would have expected a win (thats the same every season for most clubs though?) but you can't grumble too much realy I guess. And how about the pray-off lottery.....again! WHU over two legs? Nicky (lets see if I can shaft the club for more money) Maynard and all?
Caldicot - dunno why, but I honestly thought we had a great chance of going up this year despite the change of manager (or because of it?) - so much so that, although I'm not a gambling man, I put some dosh on it. Thought I had it nailed at the New Year, but it's been a struggle since then. Lost my 16/1 "auto" money , but still in there with a shout at the playoff route for which I got 5/1 at the start of the season with Mr. Hill. As far as who we get (if we get), I would take any of them bar Blackpool - we need to pay that Wurzel Holloway back for 2 years ago.
Remember anyone can beat anyone in this league and it's thrown quite up a few surprises this season. I wouldn't rule out Moleys Coventry causing a major upset and for me,assuming we can win that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Earlier in the season top of the league Southampton played rock bottom Donny at the Keepmoat and came away with their tales between their legs. I would much rather see the Spammer out of the playoff mix. Too strong. Good to see you looking in Caldicott we've missed you. Up the Gas.
clingo, we'll have to disagree on that one. At the time, maybe they had good reason to be pissed off but a whole season later?..and to the point they'd want to see their team lose?... a tad OTT imo Personally, I wouldn't ever want to see the Bluebirds lose, even if winning meant the Swans getting promoted (hypothetically of course) But like you say, its in our own hands anyway
H! Shhhhhh! Don't mention the swans. Hackers are listening in. Hopefully you have got away with it while they are still celebrating St.Georges Day.
