He's coming on leaps and bounds. You can't really judge him on his performances against Man United, but then again Lucas is always going to play well against teams with a **** central midfield. He was immense against Chelsea in both games.Chelsea a team that he struggled against previously. There is room for improvement without question, and his tackling has improved and that is a good sign in itself. Would he be first choice if Xabi Alonso was at the club.I don't think so.Thats the thing,if he does become back-up,Liverpool will have quality back-up instead of garbage like Gibson.
I'm not quite sure I'd want him to stick around if he was Alonso's understudy. He would be wasted sitting on the bench and we wouldn't see him improve at all. I saw some stats not long ago that showed Lucas actually had a better tackle winning percentage than Mascherano last season, but strung about 200 less passes together. His tackling is good, he just needs to work on his passing now and we'll have a Mascherano/Alonso combined player. He is only 24, most players peak at 27-28 and I certainly don't think Lucas is anywhere near his peak yet - I still see a lot of potential in him.
He's better than Carrick and streets ahead of Anderson. The Brazilians have already started calling Lucas 'The new Dunga''. Lucas also won a brazilian award that more famous names like Ronaldinho,Zico and Romario won.I wonder why Anderson isn't on that list...Oh yeah he's ****.
I'm not saying Lucas is poor, nor denying he hasnt improved- he has, but if you are to seriously challenge again over the next few year you will need better. I do consider him better than Carrick, but then again so am I!!
