Anyone else remember the old big match countdowns on 606?

I can't remember who used to start them, although I think aj might have been involved. I was a caretaker manager for one such thread because whoever had started it was away for a day. Man, the responsibility ...

I know we did them for the play off games but I guess we might have had them for a few others - Daggers away to clinch the play off spot with an unlikely late surge of away wins (2 or 3 - that's all it took to be "unlikely" not so long ago) springs to mind.

The Gillingham play off final thread got quite feisty as I recall with that buffoon who couldn't stop with the Welsh nonsense.

Enjoyed the craic with opposition fans though. Heady days. :emoticon-0106-cryin:laugh:

*All rise for the traditional chorus of "where's WhatShrew, Bruceyboyo, Mighty Riversider!!!, Lasanga Dreams, Kazzer 67" et al*

yes i used to do some of those dim and distant pre match threads. can anyone remember during the world cup when some hand of god man from argentina got quite lairy. the shrews went international for a few days. but these boards are so much the poorer for absent friends. it is up to those of us left to continue to make the shrews threads the best in league 2 and to prepare for a pre season of mirth with some gullible league 1 clubs like coventry preston or portsmouth. floreat salopia!!

Lenny, out of interest how did you find your way here if not via 606?

i think chris-gashead has made the most impact on our boards, sounds as though the gas may be floundering again next season, instead of pissing the league

Good calls Jenny - remember you and CountyGirl a-sluggin' it out during the Sven era, with just a hint of underlying sexual tension I thought.

Major Clark Kent, that was the fella. I dimly remember quietening him for a bit by threatening to set fire to him, or something like it.

How could I forget the enemy within, that notorious fifth columnist, DiamondGeezer - where's he now? Perhaps he'll be in the Dagenham corner on Saturday, ready to tell us he always knew we'd mess up.

Don't know if he was on 606 but ChrisGashead has carried the tradition on very well this season, spouting nonsense in defiance of logic as though he really believed it. Very good.

Notts County Girl was a big defender of Lee Hughes and fancied Luke Rogers !!!!!. She defended the Munto take over to the hilt and disappeared with them. It was rumoured, even by County fans, that they were related.

someone who used to write the prematch threads was shrewsforpromotion or similar, he came from malvern area, and this was about 3 years ago. now that shrews are on the crest of L1 you would think we could attract more than 10 regular contributors to prorobably the most lively boards in L2

I just clicked on some of the users on that list and some who have never posted on here showed 'user activity' for today!

If you're reading this and that is you then add some input in the words of the banner at the top - "comment - create - debate"
