I know there are a few on here who refuse to go whilst Mike Ashley is at the club. What do you think about this:

Our accounts, they could have been a lot worse and I think MA deserves a lot of credit for what he has done financially. His footballing decisions are terrible I agree, but without him we would be ****ed, there would be no Newcastle United for you to go and watch, so in a way you could say the fans who have walked away are being slightly selfish, as we could be Plymouth, Portsmouth, Crystal Palace...you get the point. We are 11th, yes with a chance of going down. He got rid of Hughton which was a disappointing decision but justified when you look at the results against Blackpool, Stoke, Blackburn, Fulham, Wigan, West Brom, Bolton, teams we should be beating, and we only got 2 points. Our away form was a privilege, an unlikely bonus, we had to build on that but we couldn't. I don't agree with the Pardew appointment but I am always willing to give him a chance.

Mike Ashley supposedly wants us back in Europe, and had the results that should have went our way this season did go our way, we would certainly be up there. If the money is spent properly to develop the squad, who knows? If we did get back into Europe, would you come back? People are in a no win situation in a way, if you came back you are fickle, if you don't come back then you are even more selfish, but I admire that you would stick by your beliefs.

I know some people can't afford to go, but some can and don't, however were we to get to an FA Cup final, I am sure they would be near the front of the queue for a ticket!

NUFC is my club and was long before Mike Ashley came, but I am only young, NUFC has been some fans' club for decades upon decades, so is it right that you walk away just because of him? He wins. NUFC are 11th in the Premier League, not bottom of League two.

Its entirely up to those who don't turn up, its their choice, but this is just my opinion on it.

    Thoughts?

Fair points throughout...I can't get to the games due to Uni, but when I'm home, I always try and get to at least one or two each time.

As you said, most (if not all of us) were Newcastle fans before he came, and will be Newcastle fans when he leaves. I never followed Newcastle for Sir John Hall, Freddy Shepherd or Mike Ashley. I never followed Newcastle because of Keegan, Sir Bobby or Pardew. I followed them for the black and white stripes, for the football and for the 52,000 other fans. Going to watch them play is the pinnacle of being a supporter!

Whether you like Ashley or not, not going to the football, however strong your willpower is, is surely cutting your nose off to spite your face?

    [EDIT] 900th post!

Agree with what you say mate, however the fans that do not go I would just like to say to them that at the end of the day Newcastle United is still your club and still needs your support!!

I actually think Ashley is starting to understand everything better but gets largely bad advice from LLambiarse which he seems to take as gospel which is the only thing that pisses me off.
In all fairness the way we are run now is a credit to Ashley and his buisness module and we will be in one of the best footings in the league when the Uefa spending bans and debt controll come into place
the Man Utds ect will be ****ed
and we will be in good stead :)

Relegation was it would seem, the perfect thing for us (and the timing) it meant we could rebuild the club from scratch without people complaining of selling off our 'best' players AND lower everyone's expectations. We don't mind shopping around and buying £1m players...Can't imagine us being too happy about buying Williamson and Simpson 5 years ago though!

Ivé followed Newcastle because my old man took me to the Gallowgate end and I was hooked.

It doesnt matter who owns the club they will never stop me from going to support the Toon.

Ashley is a strange one, one minute he let's the club go along very nicely then for me he ****s it up getting rid of Hughton and Carroll but that's the way he doe's things.

He's still a ****. I ****ing hate him and always will. It doesn't matter how things are sugar coated financially. We should NEVER have got relegated. We have went from a secure midtable team with some top quality players and decent prospects to a newly promoted club with no star players and Alan ****ing Pardew as manager. People say he saved us from going bust when we got relegated but we would never have got relegated if it wasn't for his ****e ownership. Hope he chokes to death on one of the many Greggs pasties he rams down his throat every day. People also blame Fat Fred for everything, saying that the sacking of Bobby was the start of the rot. They neglect to mention the many seasons in Europe after Bobby left and the signings of some of Europe's biggest names (granted with limited success) plus 52,000 every week at SJP - not just for the big games, EVERY game. We have gone backwards since that fat prick came in and we still are, despite promotion. Watch Enrique, Barton etc follow Carroll out the door and League One players, kids and loan signings replacing them. All that bollocks about how he is working towards financial stability at the club...hmm you don't get that by signing players that the manager doesn't want for inflated fees and OTT wages. Sacking managers and having to pay compensation (despite them doing a good job) isn't going to help things either. Reduced gates have also impacted the club since he arrived and that is all his own doing. We will not progress until he ****s off.

    Enrique, Tiote, Ben Arfa.

Colo, Barton, Gutierrez (all internationally capped, Colo and Jonas have played in the World Cup)

I agree with part of what you're saying, but to say we've no star players is ridiculous!

Hmm, well Ben Arfa is a star, but Tiote is just flavour of the month and Enrique can't get in his teams squad - much as I love him. Barton was here before Ashley so that ones out the window and I tihnk most of us are puzzled as to how Colo and Jonas are in any Argie squads! <laugh> Also paying £10m for Colo is another ****ing joke, 80k a week as well. Such a resonsible owner is wor Mike.

Flavour of the month? He's had 2 poor games in a Toon shirt (as far as I can remember) has one of the highest passing averages in the Premier League and has been capped 19 times by his country. He is a gem of a player!

As for Enrique, he is only 25 and has been kept out of the best international team in the world by a player who is now 33 and will soon be gone. He is often referred to, by unbiassed commentators as one of the top 3 left backs in the Premier League, arguably the best league in the world. Having never played for his country doesn't stop him being an incredible player!

I agree £10m and 80k a week is a huge amount of money, but it seems like you're being negative for the sake of it here. I don't like Ashley, but I can see where he has done good things!

Tiote is mint for our team, but he wouldn't get in any of the big boy teams. He's had more than just a couple of poor games, but I agree it was good business getting him, he's been a lot better than we could've hoped for. Jose is referred to as one of the top 3 in the league - something I disagree with - but he isn't even talked about in Spain as they rate the mighty Arbeloa (!) and Capdevilla (!!!!!) higher for some reason. He'll be off in the summer anyway I fear :(

Yeah I think your fears are right, THEN, I do believe he will recognised and rated higher in Spain. Arbeloa is questionable and as I say Capdevilia is 33!

You really don't think that he could dislodge Carrick/Anderson for the screening role at United, or Song/Denilson at Arsenal, Lucas at Liverpool, Huddlestone/Jenas at Spurs, De Jong/Barry at City, Mikel at Chelsea...?

He'd do more than a job for any of those teams, it's madness to say he couldn't.

He wouldn't get in ahead of Fletcher, Carrick, Mikel, de Jong, Song etc but he'd be good for Spuds.

He has the potential to be more than the players you have mentioned though
he could easily follow in his hereo Essiens footsteps if you ask me, making him an all round quality midfielder.

Exactly, him and Essien in the centre of the park would be unstoppable.

I disagree, he's miles better then Mikel already as Mikel can't pass/tackle like him, plus he's quicker. Carrick can't tackle, has no pace, and strokes the ball backwards and sideways where as Cheick looks forward much more. Song is severely over rated I feel. The only player they have who can stick a clumsy foot in and he's put on a bit of a pedastal because of it.

Tiote and Essien wouldn't work, far too defensive.

I dunno, they both get forward quite a bit. Plus if you're playing an AMC/wingers/1 up top with them too I spose, can get away with it.
