According to reports today the club have told him to be back for pre-season, and have refused to extend his loan by 6 months.
Anyone else worried he might be in the squad for next year!?

I'm hoping they've refused to extend it because they want to sell him rather than loan him out again but I'm a little worried about this news!!

Anyone know how he's done this year? Would you want him back or is his career with Arsenal finished? What about the other current loanees?

I don't mind Denilson, I think role is important. But Arteta is doing a far better job of being the "glue" than Denilson so I'd rather Arteta kept his place.

Really? Hmm. I don't hate Denilson like most seem to (think he was made something of a scapegoat) but I worry that he'd not fit into our system. Hopefully we're planning to sell and he'll find a club that can utilise him properly as he's not a bad player.

As far as his loan spell went he wasn't liked at all at first thanks to a couple of poor performances and red cards. Ended up playing 22 games for them without scoring. That's the best I could rummage up.

No point him coming back really. He simply won't have any place in our starting line-up or bench. If we have no injuries next season (except Frimpong), we will have a deep central midfield to chose from - Wilshere, Rosicky, Arteta, Song, Coqs, Diaby and OXO. Also add to the fact that we may add another face or 2, it's looking bleak for Denilson.

I wouldn't worry about Denilson too much. He went on loan so that we could flog him. If Arsene thought he was good enough he wouldn't have left, especially after Nasri and Cesc departed and Diaby and Wilshere got injured.....

O my god that would be horrible!

Denilson, like ramsey, isnt good enough to play for a top 4 or title challenging side. They both would be "ok" for a lower level club. Maybe like sunderland.

Denilson is the living embodiment of all that has been wrong with Arsenal's transfer dealings and squad management over the last few years. A ludicrous amount of patience was given to him by Wenger despite an obscene number of completely ineffectual performances. Obviously it is not an established fact but rumour has it that we didn't go for Alonso because of the harm it would do to Denilson's career. If this is true then it was perhaps the worst decision of Wenger's tenure. I hope we sell him this summer, if he is in the squad come August then Wenger really is a deluded muppet and would have proven beyond all doubt that he is a menace to Arsenal's prospects of winning something in the near future. We have suffered enough mediocrity due to project youth over the barren years and now we deserve some serious intent in the summer. The excuses have run out for Wenger; either strengthen properly or shove off!

Also, I remember the exact moment when I made up my mind about Denilson. It was when United thrashed us at home a few seasons ago. With Rooney bearing down towards our penalty area as they went on the counter-attack, Denilson was casually jogging back as he was overtaken by Rooney who finished the move with a low strike to the bottom right corner of our goal. Not just a lack of talent, presence and awareness but of effort - completely inexcusable IMO.

  11. If Denilson is coming back it's because no one wants him. He's an awful footballer, and one which we were stupid to ever give a big contract to. Not sure how long he has left on his contract, but the sooner that nightmare is over, the better.

On a serious point, we are suppose to be a top European side, so therefore shouldn't we have the best players playing for us? All these players that we are trying to flog, made up our first 11 and have played in most of our Champions league matches too. So why can't we get rid of any of them? Players like Denilson, Bendtner, Vela etc have all been on loan yet no one is coming in for them. What does this say about the quality of our squad that we can't even give these guys away...

  13. They were never good enough for a top team - my view is that the inclusion of sub standard players in our team is one of the reasons top stars strated leaving. Having realised how bad they are, the reason we cant now flog them is that their wages are too high. None of them are worth more than £5k per week, so you cant really blame them for sitting on their £50K+ per week contracts.

This view is supported by the statement made by Ashley Cole after moving to Chelsea in which he cited Arsenal's transfer policy as one of the reasons he left, describing it as "bringing loads of rubbish players". I dislike the man intensely and I am aware that money played a large part in his transfer but if we were signing top players capable of winning the league he probably would have stayed. The simple truth is that eventually all top players want to play with other top players. People may cite the example of Steven Gerrard as a loyal player who would play for Liverpool no matter who his team mates were but we should not forget he was seriously considering a move to Chelsea at one point.

  15. I think this is why our transfer activity could be a factor in RVP's decision. PLayres like Vertoghen, Podolski, and M'Vila will help keep him at the Emirates. Lets hope we act quickly (it appears that we are)

WOW! This is the exact moment I finally gave up on Denilson too. I even posted about this on the old 606 forum! Great minds...

And people writing off Ramsey, a 21 year old with massive potential, after one poor run of form, is laughable. Playing that many games after a long term injury is bound to take its toll, like it is for Sagna at the moment. People will be calling to sell him next.

    Someone already has <whistle>

Anyway, accepting the backlash that will inevitably follow this post. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Denilson playing for Arsenal again. I think he actually had a couple of pretty good seasons with us and like Ramsey, he works hard and does the quiet stuff quite effectively. He's also scored a couple of cracking goals in there too. I don't see him as a regular starter, but as a squad player, I think he could still do a job for us.

ME too. I've got no problems with Denilson, good player, not physically strong which is his main weakness in the English league, but he plays a vital role, you need players who move the ball on quickly and Denilson is top at that <ok>
