Now I'm sure you will all be in favour so my question is, When your name comes to the top of the list, where do you want to be moved to and why? Or do we not get a turn with us already living in the great outback they call the North-east of England?
I get £0 a week housing benefit for my 3 bedroom house which I rent - and I pay towards the £250-£400 a week by working 2 jobs and payingtax on them both!! It's a disgrace that the government are "Capping benefits at £26000 a year" when, if I earn £26000 as a wage, I have to pay tax on that and end up taking home less than £20000 of it - but these people pay no tax and no national insurance and we wonder why no-one wants to work!! Lazy freeloading ****ers! Oh - I am happy in Framwellgae Moor Syd - lovely house, lovely neighbourhood and close to the family so all good for me!! Don't want the government to move me - particularly not to that dump Stoke!!
Haven't been in since I was at New College!! I live on the other side of Fram mate - near the Bede Lodge club - so that and the Happy Wanderer are my locals
i don't think you can say that everyone on housing benefit are freeloaders, as I'm sure there will be a good deal of them who have just fell on hard times since the rich bankers put our country in the mess we are in now...To have to move away from your community, family and friends will be just adding salt to these people's wounds...
Well, this wont do at all, not what I was expecting and thought you would be all for it. Marcus I lived for years at Newton Hall so know the wanderer well but just think, your new neighbours could be a nice family from Newham, who do they support, I'm not sure and if you did have to go to Stoke you could still wear your red and white shirt.(just looked it up, its the Hammers) Sunderpitt, keep out of our pubs, the Tap and Spile have some nice warm beer on order to make Marcus's new neighbours feel welcome. MrRAW, I think Hall Farm will be a Mecca for Dulwich when its their turn.
Newham and Stoke are both dumps, so it's frying pan and fire for those poor sods. But our welfare system needs a good overhaul for sure. Report in last night's London Evening Standard said that 55% of invalidity benefit claimants in Braintree, Essex, were found to be fit for work. The lowest borough was still 17% and the average was around 40%!! No wonder we're skint.
The task of weeding out the freeloaders from the genuine claiments is something that needs sorting out...
Sid, I see you live down there, are you on the list, do you fancy Hall Farm, MrRAW could give you a lift to the games.
Maybe I should post this on the Spurs board... Whitherwack welcomes work shy wanderers from the smoke, regular bus service to the job shop, apply within.
I do indeed live darn sarf, as us cockney ****ers say. If I went back to the NE it would have to be Durham for me. First house was in Cleadon, but it's a bit pricey these days!
I'd have to become a landlord then and charge the little buggers. Unless they were fit birds who could keep me happy
I know this RAW and don;t necessarily say they are all the same, but the government doesn't help itself by telling them they can have £26k a year tax and NI free to help them to live - some are needy but some just won't get off their arses and work because the government will supply everything (i.e. the lass opposite my parents house - has a 50" 3d TV - LG LED as well so probably a grands worth, the whole sky package, sony digital 5.1 surround sound and the kids bedroom has a 40" plasma on the wall and both an XBOX, PS3 and Wii and a PS3 downstairs as well - and I know for certain that she doesn't work as her kid goes to school with my son and I often talk to her) - Fine getting benefits and whatever you can if you need it - but if you are simply using it to buy TV's and Games consoles etc then this is out of order - I have worked since I was 16 years old and never been unemployed in 20 years - even when I was a bit dodgy and did dodgy stuff I still found work afterwards - but that's the type of person I am - I'd rather sweep the streets than be unemployed!!
Made my move from Middlesex back to Sunderland 3 and half years ago. I'm exactly where I want to be and not shifting
Being threatened with a move to Stoke is enough to make even the most workshy get a job. Can't believe the rents in London. Mega bucks to live in that hole.
marcusblackcat I too have worked all my life and have never received a penny of benefits, and I totally agree that there a plenty of people out there who abuse the system...All I was saying, is that there is also a hell of a lot of genuine people on benefits as well who have been the victim of circumstances, and it would be a further kick in the teeth if these people are also forced to move away from friends and family... PS..Have you any local gigs coming up in the area? I'm a big fan of live music and I usually watch bands in Doyle's (in Deptford) on Saturday nights.
