I wouldn't mind for the simple reason that I hate barca too. Can't decide which one is worst. Today though it had a direct Impact on us hence my cheering barca on.
I'm certainly not for Chelsea, but wanted them to beat Barca. From the four teams left, I wanted Real to win. So I really hope they do the business tomorrow. I despise Bayern Munich as much as clubs like Man Utd, Barca (because of cheating and Cesc-Saga) and Chelsea, just below Tottenham.
I think Mr C Ronaldo will sleep a deep contented sleep tonite. Chelsea played exactly the way they should have . But Real aint Barca and they wont be passing it around the edges of the box for ever and a day. Plus with a good few of their strongest players out , i dont see them winning it. I was surprised at how little Barca created , its no wonder they are losing a few games lately.
I also wanted to see Chelsea beat uefalona. In my mind they were becoming the complete opposite of what everyone is saying about them and actually bad for the game on certain levels. I applaud the chavs on taking revenge for the joke of 2009 but now I'm going back to being an opposing neutral
1. They are representing English football against the other leagues. 2. Barca are cheating scum. 3. Chelsea were underdogs. Anyway, I certainly want them to lose in the final. As long as they don't win the thing, it's ok.
1) They are London rivals - no teams should be worse than that. 2) Chelsea have just as many cheats in their team and are scum too. 3) See point 1. Just for enlightenment, those of you wanting Chelsea to win that game, do you live in London ? I am wondering if the mindset of those who are is different. Had it been Fulham V Barca I would feel neutral about that game, I don't hate Fulham, not sure I'd want them to win though. If it was a team I didn't mind outside of London .. I'd still probably only be neutral - I don't want any other English team to succeed where Arsenal have failed.
i don't live in London, one of my best mates is a Spurs fan, another is a Liverpool fan, another a Man Utd fan. i don't really feel the hatred thing. friendly banter, bit of rivalry sure, but there's no hatred here. i like football, i enjoy football, and i'd rather see England doing well in the Champions League than any other country.
I live in London but wasn't born here but I wanted them to lose. Rivalry aside, hating both clubs aside, potential 4th place banana skin aside, corruption aside... how the flippery floo ha can anyone want a team containing John Terry to win a football match?! It's beyond me it really is. I'm amazed even Chelsea fans can stomach him!
OK, Arsenal will be more motivated to win all three remaining games now. In the ideal world we finish 3rd, Barcodes 4th and then Chelsea lose to Bayern.
I think this is why so many fans of the top 6 are anti-English in the European competitions - As a Stoke fan who has no expectation of CL glory I want all English teams to do well, even Arsenal. I grew up in a time English teams won the European cup seemingly every year (Liverpool / Aston Villa / Nottingham Forest) and will always support an english team over a foregin one.
Steve do you think you would feel the same if Stoke were in the mix for the CL ? What about your main rivals (local), would you be cheering them on in the CL if you were not in it ?
I hate to say this because it annoys me as heck that he was captain of our team but I agree. There were some moments of great play but his heart was elsewhere. Some captain.....
The first is a difficult question to answer - not too long ago stoke were in tier three and I think our natural level is mid table championship - only Peter Coates' millions and Pulis brute strength tactics are keeping us where we are now.... If we were continually challenging for european honurs suddenly (e.g. Man City / Chelsea) I guess I'd have the same viewpoint as yourself. The second part is laughable - Our only true local rivals are port vale and I'm not sure they'll even have a professional team next year but I get depressed if they win a coin toss to be honest.
