He'll maybe win the CL and then that forces Ambramovich to keep him as manger. However, he has then to survive a transfer window in which RA will sign superstars and get rid of the old guard. He's got no chance. Also if they, Chelsea, finish below the top 4 then Newcastle or Spurs miss out. Very amusing.
If Newcastle missed out I'd actually feel so bad for them. It's hard enough breaking in to the top four, but to do it 2 years after being promoted with next to no net spend and some of your best players leaving is amazing.
I reckon Di Matteo will stay regardless of if they win the CL or not. But my question is whether he's actually any good as a manager. Serious question. He's using the bulk of Mourinho's squad with a few additions (Mata/Torres/Meireles/Cahil/Luiz notably). He didn't come in as interim manager and do anything new, and nor did he have to, the old players just wanted AVB out. Anyone else could have come in and they would have picked up their effort levels again. He plays them in similar positions and sytems that they've been used to even. He comes across as a nice guy who's maybe gonna pat them on the back, encourage them and give them belief in themselves - which he has done...but is that enough to manage a team like Chelsea? Is he actually a good manager/tactician? Can he spot a good signing? Can he build a new Chelsea team? ...will he even get the time to build a team if he gets the job? Edit: I should mention that beating Barca doesn't count as being tactically sound. The tactic was simply 10 behind the ball and lump to Drogba. Hardly genius.
Di matteo has done what Dalglish did last year - massaged some egos, raised the spirits and got the team in some good form and into a Honeymoon period. I don't think he'll be the one to do what AVB was trying to do, ie principally to get rid of the old guard and get a quicker game of football played.
If he stays he'll simply be Roman's puppet. If I were a manger I'd rather manage a league 2 team and do it my way than be a forced into things by a rich fella who doesn't know his arse from his elbow. I guess it's a nice pay-out though, so in a way for RDM its a win win situation.
They should sign him up now. I have never in my life seen a team get as much luck as they have since he took over, they have had more luck in the last two games than we have had all season. I cant see them winning the final unless they get more crazy luck but it would be funny if they won it and them Geordie twats finished 4th.
So you are predicting chelsea will be a pile of dogshit next season.? Interesting outlook for a fan but hey ho I suppose it takes all sorts.
You don't have to watch the final. And we won't play that way against Real, they are nowhere near as good on the ball as Barca hence why Real play like we did when they play Barca. We did what we had to do to get past the best club side in a generation.
Real just beat Barca without Barca missing 20 chances against them like with your lot, Real are the best in Europe this year, CL final top of laliga a league with Barca in it, so your logic is flawed expecially if you think your team in any way even remotely deserved their final place, luck luck luck, all the clogging the box in the world didnt help in either leg and in the end you had to hope messi was off, and he was, your team are sh!t, even in the final against MIlan in 2005, Milan the top team in europe at that time by a stretch yet we played and got hacked up and came back and rode our luck we played football, your lot your team and club are a joke. But do go on.
Yopur team are sh!t your team are lucky, your team are sh!t, your manager is a fool and he will fail epicly and get sacked by jan next year
Worst ever CL final performance ever, that takes some doing when you've won, Even Schalke at OT last year were not as bad as CHelsea this time. Chelsea just got lucky with the law of averages, Barca have to lose some time. Drogba should have been yellowed for that handball too and no final, dirty cheating loser gets a CL final he dont deserve, he's be selling crack and fake rolex watches if he werent playing football, Terry'd be a doorman
We won't know if Matteo can be a good manager for Chelsea until way into next season - if he gets the opportunity. Win or lose the European Cup, it is clear that Chelsea cannot mount a challenge for the Premiership with the squad with that they currently have. So the first test will be the amount of input that he will be allowed to have in both the selection of those players who will leave the club and those that will be brought in. Only after that can we judge him truly as a manager/coach. I realise that Chelsea and West Brom are two very different challenges but after a promising start he did appear to falter at West Brom.
