Hey I know this should be under the transfers thread but this rumour appears to have gathered substantial momentum recently with reports in France, England and even Spain arsenal have jumped ahead of the queue and enetered advanced talks with yann M'vila who has stated his preference of working under a French manager. If true what would you make of it? I was initially skeptical but have faith in the management and trust them to make the correct decision.

Midfield reinforcements are needed, and he's very highly rated, but rumoured to be available for a not-massive price. Sounds good!! Would mean a dirth of potential DM's tho with Song, Frimpong, Coquelin AND M'Villa. I can see the Pong & Coquelin going on loan for the whole season if they're fit.

I hope this is true. We need a midfielder that will shield our back four and keep the midfield ticking. Song, Wilshere and Ramsey can be more attacking. A Song and M'Villa combination would be strong.

Rumours seem to be pretty strong and I have a feeling it's genuine though he will cost about £20mil which is quite a bit!

However as you can see from the video he's a lot more attacking for his club as compared to his national team where he just passes sideways. For rennes he Marauds forwards quite often which is a good thing IMO

As long as he is positionally aware and doesn't leave gaping holes behind, then i'll be happy. If him and Song can form a good partnership then it would strengthen our midfield more defensively. We still don't have an established midfield due to injuries and players leaving. Hopefully next season we will finally see the final 3 players our central midfield will function with. This time there will be a lot of competition!!!

Coquelin would be a waste as a DM - he is too good going forwards and has boundless energy - box to box midfielder should be his role.

I do worrry we'll never use him like this though. I can envision Arsene using him as a useful utility player, much like John O'Shea only not sh*te.

We will always have injuries and he will get his chance to shine next year. If he's good enough Arsene will play him. Alternatively a loan move to a Premier team might be good if our midfield stays in tact...

I'd love for it to stay as a joke but you never know, injuries can always come around and affect us. We wouldn't have guessed that Wilshere would be out for a whole season!

I actually think he could be a top class full back.

Ha ha, we're Arsenal. We're all but guaranteed 2 very serious injuries to key players per season. Not to mention at least another 2 solid first teamers who will have on off injuries throughout the year.

I'm probably being conservative with my estimations too...

That's why we should get another midfield in at least as we can't rely on Diaby and we won't know about Wilshere's form/injury. The chances are he will get injured a few times adjusting to playing in the Premiership again.

The rumours are different this year...

    1. Firstly we have Podolski. Now the German press say the deal is now agreed both in terms of the transfer fee and his wages. This look 99% done.(I assume all thats left is a medical)

    2. Yann Mvilla. Well, Firtsly we bid for him last Summer but the suprising thing is that the French press are saying the deal has already been agreed. 6'3 and strong M'Villa would add some steel to our side. First choice for France at the age of 21 (ahead of Diarra,Toulalan etc..) this guy needs to be snapped up quick because Barcelona and Bayern Munch have shown interest.

3.Vertonghen, 6'3 versatile and quick Vertonghen has been linked to us for the last 2-3 Seasons. Again the Dutch press are saying that the two clubs have already reached an agreement over a fee. Vertonghen is FAR better than most Arsenal fans realise he's technically sound but also strong and commanding in the air. The guy is 'World Class'.

The feeling I get with all three of these players is that contact has already been made. (which is highly unusual, Arsene normally procrastinates until its too late) We could actually have the scenario where all our transfer dealings are sorted within the first few weeks of the window.

I have to say if we do happen to sign all three of I think we will win the league. We would have sured up our defence, added some much needed height and gained another 20 goal a Season forward to take some of the pressure off RVP.

Where are people getting these stories about Vertonghen and M'Vila from? I've seen enough about Podoloski but not a peep about the other two!

  20. After these last close seasons of looking to get this and that player, I now don't really care who we get really except that they should be the players we need to get us further up the table and indeed winning. There have been good things written about Verthongen, M'vila as well as others who have been on our radar like Hazard. Whoever we get I hope we get the right player and not lose out because Arsene or the negotiating team take their own sweet time or minge over a couple of million in the sale price or the timing of funds receivable or payable or draw matters out over a few thousand in the pay packet. And no more blinking' excuses from Wenger or that CEO.....
