Cashley's also on a yellow card isn't he? Here's hoping he picks one up as well then to be on the safe side.
They're through but at what cost. No Terry, Meirieles, Ramirez, Obi Mikel (well.... he won't be missed at least) and possibly no Cahill if his injury is bad. What team will be put out?
Un- ****ing- believable! What a disaster for football! Chav fans won't give a toss, but unfortunately, this is only going to encourage other teams to adopt their arses to the wall tactics in both games, which will only take football backwards. Great victory for the Chavs. Sad night for football!!
I doubt if they'll be worried about that at this moment. A real ballsy performance and I do say this through griitted teeth, but what a battling performance.
If you allow your bias to not see what an heroic performance that was, you missed it. You can be mesmorized by the passing skills and control that Barca show, but they only have one playing method and the concentration shown by the Chelsea defence negated it. That deserves praise.
Yes, surviving the greatest siege since The Alamo probably does deserve some sort of perverse credit. Still a bloody sad night for football, though.
Wish we were showing half the fight in the last couple of games than Chelsea have done there. Awesome effort.
Not sure about complimenting Chelski. Sure they defended well but you can't play that way against Barca without also having a lot of luck. The trouble is commentators only see the final score and write their reports based on the result. It's like writing about a match with hindsight. So the story ends up about how Chelski defended so well and how clever the manager is... which is true but only to a point. Given the number of shots Barca had, the possession, hitting the woodwork and missing a penalty etc, I think they also rode their luck... and with luck like that it doesn't matter how many of them are suspended for the final, they could turn up with half a team and still win. But more importantly from our perspective, will it make them more or less keen to beat Newcastle? I suspect this result will favour Newcastle. Even more than that of course, it does put the 4th PL place as qualification for the CL in jeopardy.
At least that'll piss off Platini, no showcase Barca/Real final, not that Real are there yet either, I can see Bayern getting a goal and making life difficult for them...thats if Ribery and Robben can kiss and make up after Robben took a good dig off the handsome one! please log in to view this image
That is the only important stat. Yes Chelsea rode their luck but no team in the world can stop barca creating chances over two legs, it simply cant happen, clearly chelsea have some sort of mental hold over barca as how many games is that now? 6 or 7 that barca have failed to beat chelsea.
Jeez, some of you lot sure are biased to the point of making naive comments. Of course they were lucky, every team who wins a football match often has some luck. Bearing in mind they lost both CB's, had a penalty decision against them that n ever was, and still got the result they needed, I would think that goes down as a terrific battling performance. As someone else has just said, if only we could show some balls like that then we wouldn't be struggling like we currently are.
Sorry, i'll give them a modicum of credit. However, they adopted nothing but totally negative tactics in both games. By a combination of siege mentality defending, and some great fortune, they have won. I repeat once more, however. Bloody sad night for football.
