would we need to? gibbs will have to be included this year anyways. not that i'm of the opinion that walcott should be sold. 11 goals and 8 assists or sumthing like that for a wide player who is called "ineffectual" a lot of the time isn't bad.
You implied that his replacement would cost £40m, which means you valued him around that. This would put him in the best players in the world category ie. Aguero, Tevez etc. We are not talking about over inflated UK prices my friend, as Wenger doesn't do that. Walcott is good but he isn't worth over £20m real world money, not imaginary Liverpool evaluations. Suarez is £25m, Aguero £35m, Tevez £26m (now), David Villa (31m) etc so that should give you an indication of top players. Our best player RVP, was valued at £26m before his best ever season, now he's valued at £40m. I just checked this website out http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk, and it gives you an indication of how much a player is really worth on the market. Funny, Walcott is valued at £15m.... Walcott is in the Gervinho, Sessègnon, Lennon, Valencia (i'm being generous) bracket.
Don't think anyone thinks Dein is a silver bullet, but we need something to change in the way we negotiate and agree contracts. As for Keown and Adams, both have their coaching badges and huge experience of both the club and working for the manager. Adams has manged in the PL and abroad as a number 1. I am sure they would be devastated by your lack of faith!
Well I am not sure transfermarkt would be spot on, but I agree there is no way in the world Walcott is worth £40m.
No, I did not imply that, nor is that the meaning of replacement cost. The replacement value of something =/= the value for which it can be sold. That is a very clear distiction.
But to suggest that an equivalent player to Walcott would cost us £40m absolutely means you think Walcott is worth £40m. Why should we pay more for players of equal ability?
Yes (nice to discuss the issue with someone who understands english), I'm implying that Walcott is worth "almost" 40M to us. That is for a number of factors: 1. He is homegrown, and that is becoming an issue for us. 2. His market value is reduced because he has only one year left on his contract. 2. Our right side tactics very much need a player with pace to play in that position. 3. He does get a fairly large number of assists and goals for a player in that position. 4. He has a very good understanding with Song, Sagna, and RVP.
The only really major contributors to a value differential between Walcott and a replacement are points 1 and 2. We could likely pick up an equivalent foreign player for far less than Walcott.
