Those 2 in the centre of midfield would be exposed, They are practically wingers and neither could protect the defense properly.
Do you really think MON is going to buy an entire new team? That was Bruce's strategy, and I doubt MON will be doing the same.
seems a lot to me, I would say 2-3 out and 3-5 in. Maybe more if MON loans a couple of players - so buy 4 loan 2. Whatever happens, this summer window will be interesting to watch.
McGeady would be a gamble IMO. Stokes is a star in Scotland, so how good is he really? Big thing is to keep Sess and maybe put in a cheeky bid for Drogba?
1. You've valued Sturridge & Johnson at £12m each - both young England internationals with bright futures yet a couple of weeks ago you valued a 28/29 year old Sessegnon at £25m. Sturridge has more goals than Sessegnon (in far less game time) and probably a similar assist rate so in essence you probably do agree with me afterall that Sessegnon is a £10m player. I'd rate Sturridge at about £15m just for info. That's all for now.
We said we wouldnt accept less than 25million for Sess, because we do not want him to leave. Johnson is not critical to Man City, and they will probably be looking to sell. That changes things. but to be honest, we didnt give a **** what you thought before, do you think we do now?
How old is Johnson? Sturridge has played those games with better players around him has he not? Neither Johnson and Sturridge are getting the game time either want, neither of their clubs need a high fee. Having said that neither would go to Sunderland. But theres nothing wrong with at least trying. That's all for now.
The likes of Sturridge and Johnson aren't realistic at all for us atm. Hoillet will have his pick of clubs and will end up at a spurs or Liverpool. The fact that he's free might also tempt Everton in the market. Matt Phillips is a more realistic possibility. Miliner is on summit like 100k a week, the only way thatll happen is if we get a similar deal to the Bridge loan. I think there's some good value out there and some decent frees. We could make a 10m profit front the sales of Rico and Gardner then bring in Figeuroa and Diame for free. Sell Gyan for 10m and bring in roddellega for free. All 3 would be good for our squad and we'd have 20m + whatever short throws in to add 3 or 4 quality acquisitions that go straight into the first team.
Over the MON Sturridge has scored those goals with bett....how did you not think about last season with Bolton whilst writing that sentence? Are you that slow? Agreed, Johnson and Sturridge are not getting the game time they want, but that's the perils of playing for a team competing on all fronts. Do you think you could come and buy Javier Hernandez from us for £4m because he's getting limited game time? I understand that players are worth more if they're performing week-in week-out but these players aren't exactly Kieron Dyer are they? Johnson has made 38 appearances and Sturridge 37. I said that would be all for now, because I've got more.... Milner £8m? McGeady £10m - ELABORATE PLEASE!
The thing is to improve our squad these are the players we need to be looking at. There is no point in buying mid table prem players because we already have them. The get to the next level we need to buy players that are at the next level. Young players is the way to go because although they are more expensive they have a sell on value. If you buy Johnson for 20m you could sell him for 15-25m in 4 years time. If you buy Maluda for 10m you get no sell on value so Johnson is actually cheaper in the long run. Short must know this and as a man of wealth I am sure he would pay the money for the right player who is the right age.
Just seen this on skysports - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11695/7696282/O-Neill-targets-new-strikers Not something that we didn't know but I do hope we get 2good strikers I cannot see us having a massive amount of money to spend but I think Short will give MoN around 10-15m along with the money he makes if he can significantly reduce the wage bill. If I was MoN the players I would be looking to move on would be Permanents - Gordon (free), Angeleri (free), Bridge (EOL), McCartney (500k), Kyrgiakos (EOL), Bramble (500K), Elmohamady (1m), Vaughan (1m), Gardner (5m), Riveros (1m), Bendtner (EOL) - total - 9m Loans - Pickford, Laing, Egan, Knott, Cook, Ji, Wickham and possibly Meyler for a couple of months to get some game time depending on departures. In GK - Brad Guzan - (Aston Villa - Out of Contract) RB - Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace - 4m) LB - Taye Taiwo (AC Milan - 4m) CM - Gylfii Sigurdsson (Hoffenheim - 8m) CM - Mohammad Diame (Wigan - Out of Contract) W - Victor Moses (Wigan - 5m) CF - Hugo Rodallega (Wigan - Out of Contract) CF - Emile Heskey (Aston Villa - Out of Contract - don't want this to happen but think it will) -------------------- Mignolet ------------------ Bardsley ---- O'Shea -------- Brown ----- Taiwo ------- Sigurdsson ------------- Colback ------- Moses ------------ Sessegnon -------- McClean --------------------- Gyan -------------------- subs Richardson Turner Westwood Cattermole/Diame Larsson Campbell Rodallega
I think its highly unlikely that Gyan will be playing for us next season. Moses is a left winger, so where will he fit in? unless Ricco is sold, which I doubt due to his versatility, Moses wouldnt be a good buy given that LW isnt a high priority position. We need a RW though, Larsson needs competition for his spot. Yakubu is like Emile Heskey but with the ability to score goals. MONs cup of tea.
Going over your team and presuming you hold onto your best players I think Guitirez is the weak link. Do you see Hoillet slipping in at left midfield?
adding to what I put ^^^^^ if Gyan does not return I think we will get around 10m for the lad and with that replace him in that side with Fletcher at Wolves. keep some money aside and go after Samba in January
