Normally Id happily watch any group of 10-22 players kicking a ball around a pitch/surface of any description, I can pick a side, cheer them on, and enjoy myself, without knowing who the fook they are.

Any England or English teams in various competitions, I will watch and support.

I just cannot find anything to prise any interest in me for the Olympics. Anyone the same?

I can't think that I've ever watched an Olympic football match before, but I'm a little more interested with the novelty of a GB team, Bale on one wing, Beckham on the other etc..

I don't know if its cos its British and I genuinely despise the Scots, or something else, just general apathy over the Olympics as a whole. I respect the sprinters and other athletes for what they do, but like Joel says, it doesnt feel like a football tourney at all.

I will watch the Olympic football more than the Euros. England have zero chance of doing anything @ the Euros and all the U21 players should be kept for the GB olympic team. A great chance of Gold. No chance in the euros.

So Frenchy you are saying as a nation we should not give our younsters the chance to learn in a true testing tournament, to soak up the feeling and gain vital competition experience but save them for a tournament in which they will never play again, and will get to test themselves against the likes of the UAE?

Personally i will watch the Olympics mainly just for the nostalgia and the interest at seeing how the side will blend, and see us hopefully win a match.

A Gold medal @ the Olympics is a far better choice,, so yes. England have no chance at the euros.

Many will never get that chance again So Yes the Olympics should take priority this time around,, imo England can wait.!!!

Agree with this, hard to drum up the same enthusiasm as there is for other football tournaments and indeed other sports in the olympics.

You blindly back City to win every game, even after they've been on a five game losing streak.

Yet you write of England before they've picked the team, picked the manager, or even kicked a ball.

    You're definitely special.

I was thinking that of you. You really are clueless. Most of the U21's will get one chance to win an Olympic Gold and should be given that chance. England can wait. Its not as though we have any sort of chance in the euros anyway. ffs, our best player is suspended for the first 2 group games and by the time he comes back England could well be out.

A Gold medal is a fantastic prize and certainly good for the CV. Shame you cannot see that. <doh>

What so England should care about their player's CV's? England should say okay lets give up on the Euro's and let you win the Olympics?

I am not saying the Olympics is a bad tournament, but why should England care about it? Also its under 23's, so why is OLM clueless?

The Euros are far more important than the Olympics, obviously. It would be huge if we won the Euros, don't think the rest of the world would take any note if we won the Olympics. Plus it would mean the Scottish and the Welsh had won something too. We should easily get to the knock-out stages (I know this is England) even without Rooney. So why not have a go, we're good enough to go far even if we never seem to. Most people wouldn't have backed Chelsea after Terry was sent off. Be interesting to have a go and use it as a platform for 2014.

Because I lived there for 2 years aged 12-14, and they're a horrible inbred bunch of racists, who would never support anything to do with England. Honestly, Campbells, and McDonalds, both had 1 thing in common though, they both really hate the English. ****ers. If any English person acted the way they did, we'd be called out on it.

    I ****ing hate them.

Whilst I can see people's point, I agree with this. Don't agree with having a break from football or whatever. I'll be soaking up as much as I can all summer.

Why do you keep saying that like it's fact? Just because you buy into the apocalyptic 'everyone is better than us at our own game and our best players are all past it' nonsense the media want to feed us doesn't mean everyone else believes it. I think we'll be competitive, probably won't win but we'll have as good a chance as the likes of France, Germany and Holland.

The likes of France and Italy have done much worse than us in some of the recent tournaments but nobody will use it against them. It doesn't matter anyway, it isn't about how good we were 4 or 8 years ago it's about who has the best team now. We've got one of the better teams and we'll stand a decent chance.
