I nissed the bog ad I only bet over thr counter. Closed my online account bur oh well still great day 3 bets 3 winners that's it for me today on the punting side. I deiced ti side with alderwood unlike the lasr two times. In some way I wanted bz to win the last. Great horse but I thinl age has got to him. What a star he was
The ground looks very very testing at Punchestown and there could be some value to be had if you can work out which of the 10 is even going to complete in tomorrow's Gold Cup. I think a proper slogger plodder is what's required but there isn't one in the field. I can't believe Captain Chris will like it one bit, neither Noble Prince, neither Qunatitativeeasing. Rubi Light for all he will love the ground has slight stamina doubts. Magnanimity had a hard race in the Irish National (and didn't get home). Boston's Angel looks gone at the game. Follow The Plan only seems to win at Aintree on good ground and Roberto Goldback doesn't seem to win at all. Apt Approach will handle the ground but is he good enough? I'm not sure. Quel Esprit will handle the ground and, so long as Ruby is sensible, he looks to have this as his mercy.
I might lose a few quid in the bumpers later but will share my madness with you my cyber friends. At Punchestown, there is no way the shrewd Don Cantillon has taken his horse GRAND JESTURE for the fresh air. He knows the time of day in bumpers and I expect this 25-1 shot to turn in a decent performance. Meanwhile over at Towcester I am amazed to see that the courses bumper expert handler Alan King has a 7-1 shot (8-1 with one dodgy firm). He brings decent bumpers to Towcester and this one, MAGIC MOON, comes from a decent family. The dam had bags of stamina, not something I usually look for in a bumper horse but this is Towcester in the soft!
I can sum my day up in one simple sentence. Thank God for Sizing Europe. If SDC and Barcelona oblige I'm up for the day. Somehow. Guarenteed it'll all go tomorrow. Fantastic shout on Snap Tie wooly and ROTO.
Good job I'm not betting. Funny thing is, I tipped Snap Tie up last time he was due to run but he got scratched. Couldn't fancy him today but very well done to those who backed him
Hope Mossey is okay? Looked a horrible fall Sir Des Champs has so much left in him its not even funny. Seriously- he has such a lazy style, just runs within himself.
I've said it before and I'll say it again I genuinely believe jockeys on a horse regarded to be a good jumper should go for a big one if clear at the last. it's not the horse it's the jockey - they get cagey knowing only the fence can beat them, they overthink and it can fck everything up. SDC is a decent jumper, let him jump the fence.
Absolutely agree George. I always remember Barry Geraghty doing his best to wrestle Kicking King to the floor at the last in the King George. Why they feel the need to break their rhythm I have no idea.
Decent from Sir Des Champs but probably didn't tell us a lot. Pleased that the casualties are all OK (mainly anyway).
On the other had Ruby went for a big one on Master Minded in the Game Spirit at Newbury and he nearly flattened it. Was cursing himself afterwards for not just asking him to pop over it with the race won.
Very true. No need for either the big one or the shorty. Just go with what you've got, as you would with any other fence. Just because it's the last doesn't mean it should be ridden any differently.
