Rangers have been for sale for the last five years , yet when spl announce the changes to their rules and the sfa announce their punishment , it was on the day the club was going to be bought and taken over .

Duff and Phelps have set a deadline to announce a deadline for the final deadline of all the deadlines that have passed without a deadline.

Its a bit like that movie " Final Destination " and then they made " Final Destination 2 ".........now, without wishing to sound too pedantic....

    "Scum"

    why thanks :)

"Every country bar ours would be helping a club in the position we find ourselves"

    fiorentina, portsmouth, leeds, dundee....

"But no , they are chopping off our hands and legs"

can someone explain the irony of the black knight sketch to this belter :)

"I'm disgusted, angry and physically shaking with rage"

as opposed to emotionally shaking with rage? is this the fella that did the flyer....

"I'm more angry that some fans won't waken up and fight our corner"

the ones that think it is fair presumably?

"A boycott of all away games is a must"

excellent idea - i wouldnt pay to watch that anyway

"Any supporter who attends an away game next yr is no rangers supporter in my eyes"

well that makes sense because it might not be rangers they are supporting....

"You can go **** yourself "

    i think i will

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b01ghftv about 22 mins in. but what about that fenian in charge of the taigs :emoticon-0106-cryin

now its all the fault of the sfa. i don't remember them asking the sfa to step in prior to whyte taking over. back then it was all timmy myths and whyte was the saviour who would lead them to better and bigger things. let's not forget that murray would only sell the club to someone who could take it further

But it is the player registration ban that has caused most concern for the club's administrators Duff & Phelps.

"It is the sheer lack of any commercial sense to this ruling that has shocked us," a source close to the club's emergency regime told the BBC.

"It is a bit like a court telling the administrator of an engineering company that they can survive but they're not allowed to trade any stock"

    =====================================================

I don't follow their train of thought.

    The analogy is ludicrous.

If the SFA had banned Rangers from playing football matches he may have had a point.

If Rangers cannot buy players then they should simply use the squad of players they have at their disposal for the next year. Buying players is not mandatory nor is it a purely commercial enterprise, when a club buys players it is normally done to strengthen the squad, it has little effect on commerce that I can see.

Besides, if this imaginary "Engineering Company" had run it's business model on the basis of "trading stock" then they are in the wrong business, Engineering companies usually do "engineering work", contracts and the like.

Instead of Rangers "trading stock" to make money perhaps they could - and this is just a crazy idea - play football using the assets at their disposal?

exactly dev - and interesting they ARE allowed to "trade stock" - they can sell players which, should, generate income.

they just arent allowed to spend other people's money (you know - utd, hearts, us, rapid vienna etc....)

Surely it's embarrassing for Rangers' fans to have this guy act as a spokesperson?

You've got hold of the wrong end of the stick, Dev. They're not talking about trading stocks and shares. They're talking about stock as in nuts & bolts. If they can't restock, they can't build anything to sell.

He's changed his argument now anyway, the guy from D&P now says it's akin to a trading company not being allowed to trade. Anyhoo, plenty of clubs have been hit with transfer embargoes in the past (Sion, Chelsea for example), it's a pretty standard way of punishing clubs so D&P are talking nonsense.

Rangers should definitely follow Sion's example on how to deal with a transfer embargo <ok>

It's not a good comparison as Chelsea had a stable squad at the time with no urgent need to replace players.

There will probably be a mass exodus from Rangers in the summer - whether through players looking out for their own interests, or any new owner looking to slash costs.

If this stands, I seriously think we'll be fielding a mainly under-18 team next season.

Changed my mind about the punishment at least now i dont need to listen to anymore rangers are going to sign messi pish.

Anyway the ban only serves one purpose to scare of bill millller. Remember if rangers liquidate and the assets sold then craig whyte/ticketus are first in line to get all there money back, rangers assets are worth more than 25 million. Failing that the only bid that is acceptable is one that includes ticketus. Thats why there not worried at all, because either way they are going to get there money back.

I understand, but the current contract situation with players is nothing to do with the SFA. Combined the punishment + contract situation has led to almost disaster for the club, but the punishment itself is probably in line with the crime of buying players you haven't paid for, both in wages and transfer fees.
