I think you may be underestimating Quevega. The way the race at cheltenham was run could not have been worse and she still absolutely romped it without trying. I know she didnt beat much (sorry stick!!) but i dont think its a bad price about her at all. Thats not to say I will be backing her as want to see how heavy it is by the time of the race.

    Hello lads.

Not a great card at Punchestown today compared with past years...tomorrow is even worse.

    No bets for me today.

    GL anyone having a pop.

I wouldn't underestimate Quevega, but I think the current prices overestimate her superiority, if indeed she is superior at all. She has beaten VLV in the past but VLV has improved since, and Zaidpour should be suited by conditions. She might well win but I couldn't entertain the idea of backing her at Evens or odds on against this field on this ground.

On official ratings Quevega is by no means dominant. In fact she ranks only equal 3rd highest behind Thousand Stars and Zaidpour. Is on levels with Voler La Vedette, Mourad and Oscars Well. I also would not want to take as short as Evens about her despite the mare being an undoubted star.

Interesting meanwhile to see that Mr Henderson chucks Quantitiveeasing into Grade 1 company at Punchestown tomorrow (5.30) rather than going down the handicap route at Sandown Park on Saturday (old Whitbread). Prior to tomorrow, over fences, Quantitiveeasing has in the past only ever run in either novice or handicap events. Does the forums favourite trainer think he’s got a live ‘un on his hands???

Finally on the former Whitbread that is a very poor race for a purse of £150k.

I'm not underestimating Quevega Don. Voler's form is much stronger this year. I love Quevega but come on, 10/11 for a horse who's got to beat the only horse to give Big Bucks a race this season on ground she's not 100% guaranteed to appreciate not to mention a horse in Zaidpour who has achieved a 162 rating without ever running on his favourite ground, which, coincidentally, he gets on Thursday. That is not a value price at all.

PadPow - 1st goal scorer 5/2... To score 2 goals 11/5... 7/1 for the hat trick...

Still very, very skinny... Poor that from Paddy...

Very tough card at punchy today so no big bets-I backed citizenship 8/1 e/w in the 4.55 as i hope he can recapture the form when scoring at leps a few months ago. Also backed catamongdpigeons at 7/2 to win in the 6.05;only horse with any sort of form in this race.

Stick, thanks for your highlighting of First in the Queue this morning, I have had a good luck at this and see it's drifting with PP out to 20/1 whilst 365 offer 14s, I suppose the ground is against it but both offer 1/4 odds 5 places so with Geraghty replacing Tinkler I shall have a speculative (small) e/w as my only bet of the day.

Just had a dabble on Not My Choice at Wolver. Was happy with the Fanning booking as it is a front runner....just noticed the jockey change to Ryan Moore.
For a horse that was deemed to be good enough to run in a Group 1 at Chester only last summer ( and not disgraced) I think this has a very, very good chance having been dropped into a seller for the 1st time.

I fancy Chelsea to progress tonight. The Premier League has been poor quality wise this year and our clubs have been dreadful in Europe. The league needs the pick me up.

Quel, have to agree. if Chelsea get at em, and keep at em like they did at Stamford Bridge they have every chance. would love to see them score an early goal!!

Anyone think indian art could be well handicapped in the next? Had a few quid in the place mareket....
...and a few quid to place on Big Shu in the trappy event at Punchdrunktown!!!!

Has Big Zeb lost a leg in the last 6 months? Is he over the hill?

He is over the hill IMO. I was ridiculing a friend of mine for thinking he was an EW banker at the Festival and the old horse only goes and staggers round to cling on for 3rd. If either of Wishfull Thinking or Kauto Stone had stood up I reckon he might not have. I would be place laying him today but I see he's about the 2/1 mark which, given the rest of the competition isn't too hot, is probably about fair. Unfortunately everyone has realised that he isn't any good anymore.

I suspect he will win today. <laugh>

Nass, saw a horse win the other day owned by Peter Winkworth that was trained by another.
Has Winkworth been warned off or jibbed training?
