His "comparison" of a supporters trust with the Bundesliga where fan ownership is successfully encouraged is plain stupid. The Bundesliga is the best run league in world football today. They apply a salary budget cap against turnover, their league is very competitive like the Championship but with more quality, their grounds are full every week and their national team always has a chance at a major tournament (ask England). Debt is not allowed which encourages stronger competition as talent is more spread across the league, and it also encourages using local talent and developing youth. Now here's a good one - clubs actually provide train and bus tickets for fans to get to games...yes, free transport in a deal the Bundesliga agreed with the transport services. **** me Peter, no wonder you call the German game "in disarray"!! English football would be in a much better place if they modelled their game on Germany, but the greed on and off the pitch will not allow it. Germany basically told players that if they wanted unreasonable contracts they were free to go to England or Spain. Most of their top players still play in the Bundesliga...go figure!! Lorimer needs to learn to shut up and stop making idiotic comments when he has no understanding of what he is saying. He can stop trying to set up any future decisions made by the chairman, Bates has already committed to back Warnock as far as is possible, let's see how far that is. Lorimer must accept that there is no club without fans, so LUST will exist regardless of whether they have 500 members or 50000 members. Leeds should rather accept that LUST has members who have questions they'd like answered, and rather share information with the fans than ignore them. Surely the falling gates says it all? Would Lorimer rather have 9000 at home games in the future? If that happened, he would be gone along with Bates in no time at all. Whitejock...your point is completely valid, and if Bates loses surely Leeds fans have a right to demand his removal if the damages are paid out of club funds? After all, no company would tolerate a chairman who costs them millions even if he owned the company. He would be "retired" and receive a nice pension whilst the board sought to either do a management buyout or find a takeover bid in the best interests of the business.
Agree wholeheartedly, but as Pisspoorpete said on the radio - he's the owner & can do what he likes with the club (Does that makeus slave, btw? Feels like it, somehow). We're completely powerless. Our only weapon is money, and too many of us are signed up season ticket holders at this time. I honestly believe that the season ticket membership is key to us getting heard. If I get to the LUST meeting on Thursday, I'll try to raise the point (Cozer, BillyisGod - can you raise the subject if I don't make it? "people put a lot of money in and they are entitled to run the club as they want" made me very, very angry. Between bates, lorimer and harvey, they've put **** all money into the club. Their philosophy is directly contradictory to the reason lorimer gives for why fans don't have a say - their philosophy being running the club by its own means, ie, without outside investment. He's put **** all into the club, even less when you compare it to how much money the fans put in, he practically has no say in how the club is run.
You almost got it right, Marko. Bates is on record as saying he welcomes investment, & Lorimer echoed it recently. They don't welcome a takeover right enought, just investors. Funnily enough, no-one is queuing up to give him their money to spend without a say in how it's done (apart from the fans, of course!).
Either way my point still stands - if outside investment came in, do you believe they'd have a say in how it's spent? I doubt it, which is why bates wants to stay in charge - he wants control over other people's money.

It is clear Lorimer is influenced by Bates and lacks the intelligence to think for himself. At least Eddie Gray says investment is needed and most of the players need to go.
