i keep hearing this nonsense that chelsea are a big club i'm sorry but they are not, they were nothing without roman abramovich the clubs i consider to be big clubs are ourselves, liverpool ( i hate to admit that ) arsenal, aston villa and everton, they will never be a big club, before their owner arrived they were a small club that was always mid-table but all of a sudden their owner comes in and steals our transfer targets, for example arjen robben was on the verge of joining us he looked around carrington until the russian employed peter kenyon our former chief executive and they eventually signed him, another example was john obi mikel signed for us but he wanted to join the small club and we got a decent fee for him. i wish people would stop calling them a big club because they are not one, one more thing i don't like their players, at least the former united captain played the game unlike the chelsea manager, oh and ''JT''' as chelsea fans like to call him is an idiot that he thinks he's England's lion, football doesn't work like that.
Depends what you define as 'big'. Inches of the pitch? Money? Fanbase? Trophy haul? Roman's cock? I personally prefer the term prestigious, the 'big' arguments always fall flat on their face.
Judging by the worlds richest football club list then yes they are a big club and also have a huge worldwide fanbase along with many other teams. I don't buy into the whole " Chelsea had no history before RA / Chelsea were nothing before RA took over " They was challenging and breaking into the top 4 a few years before Abramovich took over and correct me if i'm wrong but didn't they actually make the Champions League before Abramovich bought them? I know they was in big financial problems and could well not exist now if it wasn't for Abramovich buying the club but ignoring the financial problems they was competing at the high level before he even took over and had still won a fair few trophies including european ones before the Abramovich era, Abramovich just elevated them from a top 4challenging club to a league challenge club. All depends on how you want to define it though, if you're saying Chelsea isn't a big club because of the money then that's stupid and pointless because then you can't count Madrid, Milan, Juventus, Man U and a lot of other clubs as " big clubs " because they have also continually spent hefty amounts to make sure they have stayed at the top level
Also you wrote - at least the former united captain played the game unlike the chelsea manager, oh and ''JT''' as chelsea fans like to call him is an idiot that he thinks he's England's lion, football doesn't work like that. Di Matteo did play the game and was a very good player so i don't know what you're talking about there. And as much as i don't like JTs antics off the field i would say judging by his England performances and attitude when on the field i'd say he is a England lion and is one of the most passionate players i've ever seen. Be careful when criticising and having a dig when you leave many gaps because i'm sure the Chelsea fans would have a field day responding with the above comments and the latter, remember Rooneys attitude has in the past been disgusting on the field ( not singing the national anthem for england games, swearing at cameras etc )
Breathe Daffy, breathe. Over 200 words in your original post, and only two sentences? I nearly hyperventilated just reading it... FYI, Chelsea achieved Champions League football under Claudio Ranieri the season BEFORE Roman came in. It was the big wages and Champions League football that allowed him to attract so many big names to Stamford Bridge, it was a very different situation for City. Chelsea were a well established Premier League club, consistantly achieving a top 6 position (similar to Spurs the past few seasons). 1997 - 6th (59 points) 1998 - 4th (63 points) 1999 - 3rd (75 points) 2000 - 5th (65 points) 2001 - 6th (61 points) 2002 - 6th (64 points) 2003 - 4th (67 points) **Roman buys club (June 2003)** 2004 - 2nd (79 points) 2005 - 1st (95 points) 2006 - 1st (91 points) 2007 - 2nd (83 points) 2008 - 2nd (85 points) 2009 - 3rd (83 points) 2010 - 1st (86 points) 2011 - 2nd (71 points)
Only just got round to reading your rant fully, Daffy: 'at least the former united captain played the game unlike the chelsea manager' Di Matteo was capped 34 times for Italy
Do us a favour Daffy, **** off will you? Most of us want Chelsea to win but more to the point this being the United board you're coming across as a right whining ****. You do NOT speak for the rest of us. Got it?
