It is indeed fantastic, Stu. A photographer's dream. The walk to the castle from the village is sublime and you will, at certain times of the year, see puffins and guillemots on the shoreline.
The history of the place is so deep and it was known as the home to the Kings of the North: The Percy Family.

    It's my Dad's birthday today - he's 89.

Got him a replacement mobile phone for the one he sent round the washing machine! <laugh>

Just going up to see Mum - we're going to have a good day. <ok>

    The green and pleasant land
The best beer in the world
The Thames when coming back on an early morning flight into heathrow
The small untrodden streets and alleyways of central London that hint of glories past
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
The climate - Can snow in July and be warm in winter
    Elgar's enigma variations
The crazy democracy with a monarch at its head that is more egalitarian than any republic
The fact that however much they may despise us the rest of the world still looks to us for guidance in time of trouble
That a football crowd of 18k people can not only celebrate promotion without trouble but applaud an opposition player who used to be one of their own from the pitch.

I do love the Tube Map - good shout. It's beautiful and so functional.

For anyone that's interested here's my admittedly inane article partly inspired by St George's Day that ended up explaining why The French are better than us.

And I didn't even mention Yann...

That's a shame, Salford. Could you not at least name your ten reasons for loving England?
