Can't see the fans being satisfied with some of the carp we've witnessed this season ! We'll soon see if it is going to continue with any new players he brings in, if they are all defenders then I guess the answer is yes we are !

I thought that he was to "have talks" with Fletcher but had stopped short of saying it would be to negotiate or even offer a new contract? I understand he has been on the box in the local news which I did'nt see but the Herald and BBC website when I looked said that.

I suspect however that your statement will prove to be right and a new contract will be on the table. I don't think that would be of any great surprise to anyone but it will fuel a debate as to it being a right or wrong move. Most people have already expressed an opinion on this one and I think the general concensus is that given the now safety of the team he deserves a chance to build a side and start a season. I can't find enough reasons not to go along with that one.

Beg pardon plym it was Herald that said "stopped short of" not BBC. I knew I'd seen it somewhere though.

I keep seeing comments like your's Gat regarding style of play but I keep going back to the same thought with this. Whilst people would love to see Argyle playing flowing attacking football they would much rather have loads of 1 - 0 results and be top of the league. They don't necessarily think that right now but I would guarantee they will if it started happening. Nothing like a winning side however they get the results. Sad I know and may I add if Argyle were top of the league after 10 games the crowds would increase regularly as long as they stayed there.

As much as I thank the team for fighting for our survival, I think the results of the teams around us played a major part of our survival. The team and manager were excused their style of play this season as the priority was staying in the league but I think it will be a different kettle of fish next season, and unless Fletcher changes his favourite tactics of defend! defend ! defend ! whether we have a string of 1 - 0 wins or not you are going to have many unhappy fans on the players backs ! I think they should have a clean sweep next season and if it were me I'd keep a few of the players who have played their hearts and the rest including over the hill Wotton (tin hat on lol) I'd release. Fans are paying good money to watch our matches and if we are honest on quite a few occasions we didn't get our monies worth !

Gat I agree we were short changed on performance for all but a couple of matches and yes indeed people are fed up with that and hope for something better. I'm not even trying to argue differently or being one who doesn't agree that good football is better to watch. But, I am saying that people love a winning side and will forgive them almost anything if they become that. That is the nature of supporters where winning promotion takes precident over the rest. I'd love them to win sufficient matches 4 - 3 to get promoted. But if they had to do it 1 - 0 and did achieve that I would be up on my feet cheering them on the open top bus tour along with thousands of others. I am a promotion tart I'm afraid.

Definitely showing why you are sensible Sensible, I'm right with you on all of that.

In any case, any set of players will start to play with a bit more freedom & style once they get a few wins under their belt in a new season. The current squad and manager must have been seeing the Grim Reaper around every corner during the season just ending.

Gat-Po.........your comment about being helped by the teams around us is only partially true......for instance after 30 games the two teams below us were Dag & Red and Northampton........both are now above us and so have done better.

Also are record playing the bottom teams this season has left a lot to be desired.......there was just as much chance of us getting points off top half teams than teams around us.

I agree with your first of 2 posts plymborn. I think it is ungenerous of people to not give credit to the team and manager just because other teams were worse than us. We had to get the points and be better than them so to credit Macclesfield and Hereford for our saving is not fair. I keep saying this but after about 20 games we still looked dead in the water. Mostly because the ground we had to make up was huge to start with. There were plenty of other times since that I've thought we were nailed on coffin fodder as well. But, despite the start and all the odds the team and manager have clawed their way out of the proverbial. The credit goes to them in my book not anyone else.
